Now I have a 'silly' numberplate, but maybe I'm missing something here, where you say "legitimate numberplate format", you mean other than the two D's (DD) that have been changed to O's (OO) to make TOO rather than TDD??
Not quite right, but you are correct about illegal spacing, the number plate is actually

TO05 LOW

I prefer plates that are related to the car rather than a person.

Best plate I ever saw was:

THE 928S

Luckily it was on a Porsche 928S, any other car and it wouldn't have made any difference, but on that car, it just works.

Isn't it TOO 510W - which makes it legally spaced.

I like them.

Have a few, and they amuse me. However, my Mrs has banned me from putting P16 GOB on anything. That was a fairly expensive bit of paper!

It is an old format numberplate from 1980. W-suffix

TOO (O being letters not zero) and then 510 W

Perfectly legitimate spacing - three letters, space, three numbers then reg suffix.

1x1, 2x1, 3x1 and their mirror versions are the only plates that interest me. Unfortunately I can’t afford them. All the other personalised plates are pure chav and perfect for RR evoques.

My thoughts exactly. I wouldn't drive around with rally style name transfers on my rear windows so why would I want everyone wanting to know I've called KEV or BEV or SAM?

This sort of plate makes more sense to me. Just quirky rather than vain - it also hides the age of the car which some people may want to do.
Well, it lets people know that it was built after 1980 wink

Ha, funny. I drive a Ferrari and have a personalised plate on it. I personally don't care if someone gives me a second look. I have the car and the plate to please me, nobody else. If others like it then good, if not, then I'm really not bothered. And, I'm really not amazing, lucky, fortunate, hard working, yes, but far from amazing.

Number plates, cars parked at slightly jaunty angles, modifications. This forum is full of odd people who get irrationality angry at the insignificant.

Incorrect, I thought that at first too but then I read the article and saw it was correctly spaced and not one that's just been butchered so fair play to the owner.

Haha very true.

I have a personal number plate. its K3 WSJ, it was a 21st birthday present from my mum and given I'm a car enthusiast I think its a bloody good present (I've now had it for 10 years).
Couldn't give a flying fruit-bat what anyone else thinks to be honest.

Or rather normal people who get slightly miffed at illegalities. hehe

With a nice Z4m in between. Always made me smile that plate. As do many others.
But then I’m not a mardy tw*t

Yep as currently displayed, TOO 510W is a perfectly good plate.

Obviously it would have been a different story IF the plate had actually been T005 LOW and then illegally mispaced like many other desperate wannabees, however.

The less said about the meaningless drivel of a plate on a certain Lamborghini referred to earlier, the better. rolleyes

I don't give a hoot how people space their plates, but 510W doesn't spell SLOW to me, I couldn't live with the I where the L should be.
