RE: 'TOO 510W': Spotted
Discussion
I'm not a private plate person, but if we're being rationale about these things then they are far from a waste of money as - unlike most cars - they tend to be go up in value.
i occasionally see plain cars with exotic plates and from a purely financial point of view they've spent most of their cash on the appreciating not depreciating asset (though probably got less of a fun car as a result).

Finally got it... Almost bought S555 LOW for my old Impreza Turbo Estate for £250 but decided it was a waste of money

Both your posts suggest you're not the target market.

Although in this case the plate would suit him perfectly

Let's see what the people with too much time on their hands on the number plate thread have to say about it.
Particularly their vociferous leader jaguarsteve.
The frenzy will last for several days, if not months. Let's see what the people with too much time on their hands on the number plate thread have to say about it.

number plates, work groups, family gatherings... the dynamics of affiliation and affliction are remarkably similar
some boffin in social psychology might explain how particular needs -- those far more existential than "number plate interest" -- are being pursued / satisfied in these behaviours

What you actually mean is it's not worth £150k to you.Its actual worth is whatever someone is prepared to pay for it.

Now I have a 'silly' numberplate, but maybe I'm missing something here, where you say "legitimate numberplate format", you mean other than the two D's (DD) that have been changed to O's (OO) to make TOO rather than TDD??
Not quite right, but you are correct about illegal spacing, the number plate is actuallyTO05 LOW
EDIT: Yes, I'm wrong, that prefix was allowed O's

Back in that format, with the year letter at the end, could you have the letter "O" in the 3 letter bit (TOO)? Not sure, if so, then you're correct.
Yes, you could, as evidenced by this very threadEDIT : No, it isn't!
I own (am looking after for the DVLA :-)) five registrations - more than the number of cars I'll ever own at the same time, but I like to think I'll be able to sell them, but alas that hasn't yet happened!
An old boss of mine started dealing in registrations when he was at school; quite clearly though a better businessman than me judging by the salary he paid himself a couple of years ago!
I like those like the CL10 CUP mentioned above.

I prefer plates that are related to the car rather than a person.
Best plate I ever saw was:
THE 928S
Luckily it was on a Porsche 928S, any other car and it wouldn't have made any difference, but on that car, it just works.

Mind you, Nick Mason has 250 GTO and it doesn't get cooler than that.
