What’s the problem with people buying cars that they like such that those vehicles become popular ?
No problem, stated my opinion and some folk on here (those who seem wound up tighter than a coiled spring incidentally), don't like it.

I think the simple point I was making was that many people seem to buy RR's for their supposed 'exclusivity' (as someone so eloquently put it on a previous thread). Yet the irony is that because they are ten a penny, probably because anyone can get the finance these days, then they are not exclusive at all. Buying the latest RR must be a bit like those multi-millionaires who buy yachts, and then park it up in Monte Carlo only to find out that someone else has bought a bigger yacht with an even more tasteless interior. How does that make you feel? As Elton John once said - "It's sad, so sad. It's a sad, sad situation".
You really are a buffoon.

You’re extremely good at it though.
You really think people buy a Range Rover for exclusivity? Really?? in 2019??? Really????

I'll ask again, what is it for then? What is the purpose of this vehicle?

BIG YAWN, yet another over priced and blinged up SUV which will never go off road, and aimed squarely at the chav with money.

Is it me or do all recent JLR products blend into one amorphous bowl of blandness? Perhaps a half descent effort at re-launching the Defender, not as a vanity chariot fashion statement but as a proper off roader, would give JLR back some much needed credibility? Just a thought.
Nope, it's not just you biggrin

I think the image thing is how you perceive it. Or the owners just pick a car to annoy the typical bitter, chip on shoulder type. It doesn't take much those to get irate, based on your tone, so I don't blame them.

Not irate at all - far from it. I just think it's very funny how some people seem to have so little else of interest going on in their life that they feel the need to buy or more likely, lease this sort of thing to make themselves feel good about them self.
I think it's funnier how some people seem to have so little else of interest going on in their life that they feel the need to make assumptions about OTHER people's cars and motivations to buy them. Not sure what the method to pay for depreciation has anything to do with anything although that seems to match the chip on shoulder type perfectly.

Why do you feel the need to inject comments like this into a thread that has nothing to do with PCP or lease or other older used cars? What purpose could it possibly serve?
Err I don't know, perhaps because this is a forum and people are entitled to have a different opinion on something to you. That is the purpose of a forum, to instigate debate. Is that okay with you?
Spot on! What he said.

Having read through this thread it is apparent that some posters have a paticular outlook on life.... some seem to just want to be antagonistic or argumenative for the sake of it. Some would say it reeks of jealousy. I.e. my life hasn’t turned out the way I wanted to, so target the ‘achievers with the label of debt junkies; as if this will make you feel better about yourself. To quote Andy (and Elton) above, truly ‘a sad sad situation’. Surely speak your mind and give your opinion and (if you want) the reasons behind your thinking, but leave off the stereotyping and profiling. Although I personally don’t own one or feel attracted to the RR brand, I have a few good friends who do. When I asked them why they bought, usually it’s because as a daily snotter nothing is as relaxing to tootle round-in. These are multi car guys who also own Rolls Royce, Mclaren, Bentley, etc... i.e. they have absolutely nothing to prove to anybody and although I wouldn’t know for certain I doubt they buy on pcp/lease.

Probably moving people from Point A to Point B, without having to resort to a Bus, Horse and Carriage, Taxi, 4 bikes, or 2 tandems.

Maybe some people like having a massive engine in a 4x4. You, clearly, don't. Does that make you better person, and them worse?

It doesn't, no. So stop whinging about a car you'll never buy.

Don't judge everyone by your own inadequacies.
It might help if you answered the question instead of exposing your inadequacies.

Also, rear brakes (marginally, sure) larger than the fronts? What's up with that?

Ah yes but there are 100's of other vehicles that offer the same features for a fraction of the cost. So what is the real purpose?

What’s the purpose of any non essential purchase ?

What was the purpose of you buying an RS6 when you could have bought a TDi ?

In 2001 I bought a Subaru Impreza Turbo.
Not once did I take it on a rally stage in the 2 years I had it.
Not once.

I think by “features “ and “100’s of other vehicles” offering them our correspondent must mean wheels and doors.

Either that or I have missed the legions of supercharged 550bhp V8 four wheel drives he believes exist smile
