Driving? With a nice soundtrack? And an elevated seating position?
Ah yes but there are 100's of other vehicles that offer the same features for a fraction of the cost. So what is the real purpose?Either that or I have missed the legions of supercharged 550bhp V8 four wheel drives he believes exist
But it's ok, I'll accept just 10 cars that can beat this on price and still offer the death-awakening V8 soundtrack, 550bhp, quality of the Velar's interior, modern design and elevated driving position.
I'm mean if there are 100s, naming 10 should be easy? Yes? No?

I'm not sure about that. See more new or nearly new Range Rovers on the road now than ever, probably between 80-100 of the things every day on my 1/2hr commute to work. Ten a penny, not special or rare in any way - which is odd really considering the purpose many seem to have been bought for?
If I take my Lotus Elise to work however then I'll probably see just one or two others on the road every month. If I take the C5 RS6 as I normally do then last time I saw another on the road was about 2 years ago and I've never seen another 'Plus' like mine.
So what, I used to drive a B reg Nissan Micra, you don't see many of them on the road any more, doesn't mean they are desirable. I doubt you see 100 Range Rovers every day on a 30 minute drive to work. And even if you do, so what, they're still more exclusive than a ratty old Audi from nearly 2 decades agoIf I take my Lotus Elise to work however then I'll probably see just one or two others on the road every month. If I take the C5 RS6 as I normally do then last time I saw another on the road was about 2 years ago and I've never seen another 'Plus' like mine.
You obviously don't place any value on driving a new car, or maybe you can't afford one, either way I don't see why you direct such vitriol at those who can, calling them 'rich chavs' etc.
You come across as a quite bitter. I wonder how, at the time, you stereotyped and sneered at the types who originally purchased your old RS6. "Flash Harry's who didn't know a thing about cars & just want to show off to the neighbours", I'm guessing.

I haven't got time to give you a list, but a Skoda Yeti gives you an elevated driving position, can be speced with a good sound system, comfortable leather seats, is 4x4 and drives fairly nicely. So spending an extra £70k on a RR? Must be a perceived image thing. Am I right?
As has been asked before, why did you buy an Audi RS when there’s a myriad of other Audi’s that would do?Andy20vt said:

Why did you buy an RS6 when a Skoda Superb estate..... When I do see a velar (rare) I hardly see the d380 or whatever the 3.0l supercharged one is called so I don’t see who would buy this, to me I remember the launch spec was like £76k which I thought was crazy. Pretty sure employees at jlr could get a velar for like £200 per month due to poor sales like 6 months ago. In the world of downsizing I would go x3 m40i or Audi sq5 and save the 40k extra. X

We all laughed. You should do stand up. And try the veal.
You kill me.....
So funny.....
Seriously though, of the 100s, just give me 10, that's all. Under 5% of the 100s available. Should be easy......550hp, Rumbling V8, quality driver/passenger cabin, elevated driving position.
Go......

True.... However, halo model marketing pull aside, the RRS can be had as a V6 diesel, or a 4-cyl hybrid.... But you still see (and hear*) plenty of SVR variants around. Those that would never consider a 4-cyl Velar (or F-Pace), would certainly be drawn to a 550bhp V8 variant.(*which is a HUGE part of the attraction)

Company failing due to a lack of vehicles which appeal to people who aren't well-heeled (or highly credit-worthy, at least) celeb-and-status-obssessives makes another vehicle for said demographic - competing with all their other vehicles which do that already.
The answer to your problems, JLR, is not another 5.0V8 vehicle - you need people to buy regular/everyday cars in volume or you will go bust quite soon.
Also - your quality processes need some work - try that instead.
Pretty much this. JLR are in trouble and I'm a big fan of the brand (I've owned two and still own one). The answer to your problems, JLR, is not another 5.0V8 vehicle - you need people to buy regular/everyday cars in volume or you will go bust quite soon.

I can't help but feel that the Defender will be too little too late and they will be very short sighted if they don't launch the Defender 2 with at least a hybrid or maybe hybrid double cab pick up. However that would require them to be a ahead of the curve and they aren't going to manage that.
The defender 2 won't sell in big jumners either as I truly believe that the market has moved on to other things. If rumours are to be believed it's also going to be very very expensive. What's also guaranteed (IMO) is that the purists will probably hate it no mater how good it is off road and how much better it is than what it replaced.
As for Jaguar. Failure to produce a product that people will buy in big numbers will be their downfall and that could take LR with them.
However I can see the government stepping in with some sort of lifeline for JLR.

Judging by the amount of smiley faces you have posted it seems very important for you to win this discussion. I've got other stuff to be doing now so I'll let you win this one if it massages your ego and gives you the increased sense of importance you seem to be craving.
Enjoy it whist it lasts. Nice isn't it, much like the feeling (I guess) you must probably get from owning one of those blinged up SUV's. Until you take a step back of course and look at your life, and then realise that you worked so hard for all these years to roast £100k on what is essentially an expensive substitute for what you've been told to think that happiness should look like.
By the way if you love a V8 rumble then there's plenty of vehicles that would give you that too for a fraction of the cost. Just saying.

You said " Driving? With a nice soundtrack? And an elevated seating position?" The Skoda Yeti does all those things.

I'm sorry. You were serious about the Yeti? I though it was a joke (it was a good one), I mean, The Skoda Yeti, that obvious competitor for a 550bhp V8 Range Rover. OK.....Judging by the amount of smiley faces you have posted it seems very important for you to win this discussion. You asked about the car. Not the Stereo. I keep keep saying the soundtrack of the V8....Soundtrack of a car. Not a stereo/iPhone/Gramaphone/etc
But OK, and again,...just name 10 of the 100s. Chop Chop.
Oh, and name a few of the "plenty of vehicles that would give you the thunderous SVR-style V8 noise for a fraction of the cost" while you're at it.
AND...you DO know I don't own an SUV don't you?
Skoda Yeti...
You crack me up....
Oh, PS., do also answer that question about why the RS6 rather than a Skoda Superb Estate? Seems particularly poignant.

China, Dieselgate, WLTP, consumer trends and confidence - all of these things do not only affect one manufacturer....and saw their biggest market (China) slump by 44%....
JLR are suffering more than pretty much everyone. Co-Incidence?
