But for clarity you have zero experience of owning an m156 engined one let of all one as relatively rare as the car under discussion here ?
None at all. But I've heard of a fair few going bang to know despite having the money to own one - I won't I've also driven one - I didn't get the fuss actually.
That Mustang or RCF though

That you deride the quality of a W204 whilst promoting a Mustang is laughable.

When you say “go bang” what specific issues and outcomes have you been informed of ?

Quality goes beyond dash plastics and a "made in germany sticker". In that era 204 they aren't even that nice - I should know - I had one for 20k miles. The trim rattles (in fact every 204 I've been in does this and that is just poor build - christ my ex Volvo S80 from the Ford Era was better made)That you deride the quality of a W204 whilst promoting a Mustang is laughable.
The V8 Ford engine is extremely reliable and has no reported issues as is the gearbox (in manual form anyway). There is the headbolt issue, at least one I know of lunched a timing chain (and tensioner/chain issues are not uncommon to Mercedes or indeed BMW cars) and the seven speed gearbox - really do I need to go on about these and the lousy shift quality and unreliability of them (two cars I had with MB 7 speed gearboxes had serious shifting issues and countless others I drove had problems).
I'd fully expect that Mustang to give a much easier ownership life meaning more time to enjoy the car and I reckon it would be a hoot to drive and being a manual have an extra layer of interaction missing from that C class Mercedes.
Happy now?

So your “first name terms” contacts have told you specifically of one car ?The V8 Ford engine is extremely reliable and has no reported issues as is the gearbox (in manual form anyway). And your experience of the 7 speed box isn’t of the one that is in the M156 engined cars ?
Smartypants, and indeed anyone interested in a C63, ignore this utter clown.
The M156 engine is simply a terrific motor and makes the C63 a hugely characterful, entertaining and enjoyable car to drive and own.
Find a well looked after car, check the chassis number against headbolt issue production numbers and get the view from one of a few excellent independent specialists out there.
I can personally recommend MSL in Brum, who also have an affiliate in Essex, Smarty.
I’m on first name terms with the owner

More than one car Indeed there was an S63 with this “hand built by a spotty youth” engine that popped. I know you buy into this horsest but don’t.,And your experience of the 7 speed box isn’t of the one that is in the M156 engined cars ?

Well looked after or not these are ticking time bombs. The gearbox is the same in the pre facelift 204 ,which is now quite an old car, as it is in any other 7 speed Mercedes at the time. Expect valve bodies to go, lumpy shifts etc.
Anyone considering one or indeed this over priced shed ignore this trolling lunatic fanboy and buy a better car. There’s lots out there.

They also only came in Matte white or Matte black.
Not sure how people are underwhelmed with this car, at the end of the day it’s a mid size excecytive wagon with a NA 520 bhp V8 for the price of a new Golf GTI, it doesn’t even have high mileage.
The only let down is that it’s a pre facelift with the dated interior.
It's done 74k - hardly a spring chicken. Depending on whether it's had new shocks it could in reality be quite tired feeling. Which better car would you go for? Remember, this is an estate car, and generally those that want estates don't tend to want to substitute a saloon car instead.
So which estate of about the same size and performance would you go for?
The M3 and M5 don't come in estate form, unless you're talking about the E61, and those are ruinous to run. The C6 RS6 is also horrendous to run and getting on a bit. The C7 RS6 is more expensive I think, particularly for a nice one. The B7 RS4 is old. The Jag XFR Sportbrake is a possibility, but it's bigger and hard to find.
So what would you buy if you wanted a performance estate for £25-30k?

The article said the mileage was 25k, god this article is all over the place
Advert said 74k. An almost 10yr old C class for over £25k. Even at 25k it’s a hefty price. If it was going for £10k less that would still be steep but more in line with the cars worth. The worlds nuts.

Audi S4, Golf R estate, 340i estate, E63 if I was considering an estate, newer S6 estate (the v8 4.0 not the self destructing v10).Remember, this is an estate car, and generally those that want estates don't tend to want to substitute a saloon car instead.

Left field choices might include Panameras, RS7 or CLS shooting brakes - I don’t think this budget would get you into a Panamera but they’re a brilliant car.
But in reality I’d get a saloon

If that car was advertised for 15k It would be on my drive. Yesterday!
15k steep for that?
You're not really disguising the fact you're trolling now.

That seems like a lot of German cars for somebody who recently proclaimed that all German cars are crap.Left field choices might include Panameras, RS7 or CLS shooting brakes - I don’t think this budget would get you into a Panamera but they’re a brilliant car.

You’re really plumbing the depths of stupidity now.

I myself would buy a Lexus knowing how good they are or that mustang as I have a big soft spot for them. You’re really plumbing the depths of stupidity now.
I was asked about “performance estates” but they’re stupid cars. Get a proper saloon or coupe if you want a sporty car. I wouldn’t buy a German car again - partly because I feel they’re overrated - partly because I’ve discovered there’s better out there for less and partly because I’d rather do my bit to not shore up the German economy.
I really don’t understand your aggressive and foolish behaviour. Feel free to buy the old shed rsther than stalk someone on the web

Remembering a particularly distinctive username and calling out a serial troll on all things Mercedes isn’t really internet stalking is it ? It’s always .peculiar that those who seek to draw attention to themselves with deliberately inflammatory comments then cry “stalker” if anybody calls them out on it.
