RE: Lamborghini Aventador SVJ: UK Drive
Discussion
I've got one arriving soon and I can't wait. That said, having had an Aventador and an SV already I will say that they are difficult cars to really enjoy in this country (and the SVJ's almost total lack of visibility behind you given the design of the engine cover is only going to exacerbate that). Every single drive somewhere new has to be planned in advance in order to avoid narrow bridges and width restrictors, and think about parking spaces etc and that's before you deal with the drivers getting up close and literally hanging out their windows to film the car. And I write that as someone who never drives them in London.
I know I run the risk of sounding like an ungrateful with this post, but the reality of their uncompromising nature and cartoon looks means that to really enjoy it, it's for me all about setting the alarm for 5am over the weekend in spring or summer and just driving it on some great roads that you know well just for the hell of it. Using it for anything else starts to grate pretty fast. All that said I'll end this post where I started it...I can't wait!

Sweet divine jebidiah of the jungle....... I so much want!!!
And to those deriding it for its 'unsuitability' for city driving...... seriously??? Fug me, if I could afford one of these, there is one thing for sure....... I wouldn't be driving it in the bleeding city! Wales? Scotland? Yorkshire Dales, then Europe - you wouldn't see me for dust. Leave the city for the posers: I've some driving to do! 😜

I've been toying with one of these for ages, and you've just convinced me not to buy one! I do live in London, though it wouldn't be driven there, but the sheer size of the thing does make it so compromised.I know I run the risk of sounding like an ungrateful with this post, but the reality of their uncompromising nature and cartoon looks means that to really enjoy it, it's for me all about setting the alarm for 5am over the weekend in spring or summer and just driving it on some great roads that you know well just for the hell of it. And recognising these are cartoonish, I do find the interiors are a bit too much of a schoolboy's wet dream these days. That and the crushed carbon that they are now using looks absolutely hideous. An option I realise
I think I'm probably just too old!!!

London is full of buses last time I looked.
This is smaller than a bus.
Man up, people! These are glorious things.
Hahahaha you are probably right! This is smaller than a bus.

I wouldn't be getting a new one, what are the earlier cars like? Same size obviously, but on alpine passes, French back roads etc, I just think you'd still be struggling for room a bit
Having had the joy of planting my backside in the RHD one in HR Owen in Kensington (500k if you want it), and then in a few Aventadors and Huracan's in the showroom round the back, when are Lamborghini going to realise, that tall people can also buy fast cars, and that they are not just for short people?
I got neck ache in the SVJ, I couldn't see out of it either, in the Huracan I had only just enough headroom, but the steering wheel was between my knees!
The carbon seats in the Huracan were possibly the most uncomfortable I'd ever sat in, and were fixed in one position!
The 'comfort' seats were better, but then you can't see out the windscreen!
I know 6ft 3 is tall, but it's not abnormal!
I went to Dick Lovetts and sized up a 458 (want N/A engine) and it fitted like a glove, as did the 599, the F12 and the FF.
I know where my hard earned will be going. A car I can fit in!

If only Woking could make cars like this. They’d they’d have a wider fan base(and better residuals)
I know what you mean but I like McLaren doing things differently.I’d hate them to try and ape Lambo.
Ferrari/McLaren/Lambo all offer something distinct at the moment which I think makes the category more interesting.
My fear is when we go 100% electric. How will all the marques differentiate themselves?
Presumably the lower volume supercar companies will buy in the same basic battery tech?
No longer a choice of V10’s, V12 and V8’s just the same drivetrain with different body shells?
Hopefully (and very probably) I’ll be wrong.
