A 911 is hardly that special. Decent engine and chassis set up aside.
Not sure where to start with that one?!

Bare bones. It's a 911. They're a nice car but a six figure price tag for an oldish one is to my mind lunacy.

True, should by a GS instead. And it has 4 doors and an automatic gearbox. But you have probably lost more in depreciation than a Porsche GT owner. Oh well.

Again, you don't seem to grasp the concept of "classic". It may seem daft to you but maybe others have more money than you? And me for that matter.

Should someone only look to buy a central London flat at what it originally cost? Are they a schmuck too? Or perhaps the buyer of a 250 LM. I mean that car is really old so they must be a schmuck of the highest order.

You seem to have difficulty with the whole concept of value. And why what you may deem as poor value, others and the market may not.

As far as cars go, plenty of people think that older is invariably better, myself included.
After all, only a schmuck would buy a new car then get bent over with depreciation after all.

What is it that you drive...? Please enlighten us oh wise one.
Exactly. But no point arguing with somebody who plainly isn’t in the market for a 300k Porsche. For whatever reasons smile

Nothing wrong with an opinion, but you give the impression that you just don’t understand why cars have value at all.

Why would anyone pay 15 mill for an old mclaren when a 300k 720s will destroy it in every single way? Because they don’t make cars like that anymore.

About from the same era, a Ferrari 599 GTO costs/ is worth much more than a 812 despite down 130hp, slower in every aspect. So? Where’s your opinion on that?
I do, cars depreciate biggrin
Unique cars have the ability to appreciate. A gt3rs is much more special than your base run of the mill 570s which you can get by walking into any dealership

So buying the McLaren will be easy and painless and you say that like it's a bad thing. Crikey.

It is actually not that ridiculous imo, the list price was c 180k euros base spec and the sales price now is c 330k euros for a relatively low mileage car. not that many numbers limited Porsches you could choose from, this is definitely one of the rarer ones.

I’d buy a 3.8 for half that money as I can’t afford the additional outlay for a 4.0, but if I had the money, one of those would definitely be in my garage.

It's an awfully angry crowd at Pistonheads towers today. biggrin I still agree with you. Even after all this debate, It's not a car that I would reasonably associate £300k with. (I'm doomed.. hehe )

Here we go again! It's a much better car on what basis? It is better at carrying 4 people in comfort? Yes I think we would all agree with that. But as a car to drive and enjoy just for the sake of going fast on a track, or decent open road? I can only assume you write that to pull the tail a bit of those that appreciate cars.

Every car can be reduced to its most basic components. Anything is just a ‘something’. The fact is that for many this is the last full on GT 911, supply and demand. I’d suggest you do some reading on exactly what Porsche threw at it and then come back and tell everyone why it should be worth 30K, or less than an equivalent Carrera wink

Tell me about it!

And I salute you Sir - what a truly wonderful collection of cars you have. Enjoy in good health beer

But may I suggest you get a Lexus GS - that thing would make you realise what you have been missing in life. Apparently. smile

They’ve released at least one if not two GT3s on the 991 chassis.

You are doing what you frequently do and not properly reading or comprehending what the poster you are replying to has actually said.

Serious question do you suffer from Asperger’s or similar ?

No, but given your stalking and personal interest in me I think you’re no right in the head.

To spell it out. Someone said it was the last GT or other such rubbish. I simply pointed out subsequent GT3s have been released.

It’s you who has the issues. Not me. You’re no right but clearly good for something to afford the cars you do. Did you inherit a lot of money?

Yet. Only 600 of the 4.0, and you basically couldn’t buy them at £130K new. Unless Porsche liked you. NA 4.0 flat six making circa 500HP.

Just an old Porsche.

My bottom.
