Worth a lot more than that, bite there hand off.
It's a bit tatty - not horrid, but grubby and dings all round it. In perfect pre-abused condition! 500 quid is ideal shed money for me.

Definitely requires a "desmoke" at red line once warmed up for a few miles to get rid of that pesky light. 53 plate and 48k ....not been used enough

I enjoy the banter on this thread, but would like to see a few more photos, especially if very dirty, and knocks/dents , gaffer tape repairs

A while ago there was a mega shed redish with grey doors....what happened to it? is it still going, I'm sorry I don't know the name of owner, but this has now grown to 145+ pages

Was it a galaxy owned by someone named Magpie by any chance?

Here’s mine after it got washed with the dirty water from washing other cars. I do feel bad calling it a shed sometimes. It does have dents though so I think it still counts.
This is DEFINITELY the good side of it by the way....

Interesting, thanks. I was doing a bit of research where people suggested it was a bad idea on a diesel and ended up noisier than a failed DMF. Have you had any issues?
Is it a 1.9TDI?

Is it a 5 or 6 speed?

6-speed boxes rattle a bit more at idle, the cure is to sit with the clutch depressed when sat not moving. Once on the move, it's fine. The reason is the flywheel is lighter, the expensive (£1000?) Helix and SouthBend silent flywheels are the same weight as an OE DMF.

The 5-speed boxes there is no perceptible difference to refinement or NVH whatsoever, they are a different, less complex type of box design.

The 75 is slightly less refined but for a sub-500 quid car, I sure as hell wasn't putting a new DMF in!

I've used plenty of secondhand DMF and clutches too, suppose that's one of the advantages/hazards of owning/modifying/breaking/scrapping VAG cars!

My parents' 75 has more than it's fair share of VW stuff bastardised into it biggrin

It does seem to create its own bubble in car parks.

Thanks! thumbup

Yeh 1.9 TDI 5 speed, Bluemotion box if that makes any difference. Doesn't look like DMR have one listed on their site, but I will email them, cheaper and longer lasting definitely appeals.

Same as every other 5-speed box in the MK5 Golf, 1Z Octavia, Leon, Superb and all of that platform. Longer ratios, we have the same box in our mega-mile MK5 (been clocked before we got it, so estimating 400,000 based on condition), but shorter 1-4 as it's a "Sport" spec.

My shed bought 1.5 years ago for 450 quid, has cost me on top another 1350 quid not including fuel and insurance... My budget a year is 500 quid to run so I need to keep it another 6 months.

It also needs money spent on it, so not winning at shedding so far.
Spent similar. Saab 9-3 aero paid £500 nearly 2.5 years ago. First year was just consumables. I didn’t use it for 6 weeks when I took 3 months off work. Battery died. Then developed a misfire. Then clutch went. Then fuel pump, all in the space of a few days. Broke down Xmas eve on the A406. Booooo. Fixed her up to the tune of £1200. :-(.
Touch wood since then all been good bar the drivers window giving up and radio just turns itself off sometimes. In the last year done the back box which was original and fell off on the M3. Centre part has just started blowing now, still not bad for 17 years old 170k miles.

Awesome. That is too cheap too ignore. Although it does say

"Volkswagen - Golf V Estate - 1.9 TDi - 105hp 77kw - BLS - 01/2008 - 07/2009"

Mine was registered the last week of September 09 so may have been built after that (not sure if anything changed), will see what they say.

Every panel on mine is dented or scratched in some way, so when I get a chance and after my 440 mile round trip tomorrow I'll get some photos uploaded and hopefully you'll be happy enough smile

Last MOT major reads hilarious.

Exhaust emits excessive smoke or vapour likely to obscure the vision of other road users (8.2.2.2 (c))

Ha ha ha ha. You don’t have a picture of the smoke by any chance?

Stansted and back was 38MPG the other day. Around town mid 20's. The £325 tax a year is the painful thing but thats the governments fault. I only pay 180 a year insurance. Almost half the tax!
