Let's just think about this for a minute... there are options on new cars that cost more than this thumbup
I think most options on new cars are more than this!!

I do love an MX5.
I loved my NB MX-5 - until MOT time when it needed welding! Great buy at £270.

Also agree re the options comment. On a similar sentiment, I was following a brand new RR Sport yesterday, which ironically was dawdling a bit and holding me up and thinking that the price of two tyres was probably more than the cost of the shed I was driving!

What a steal!

I wonder how long it will take for the prices of clean Mk2 MX5's to go the same way as the Mk1's have.
I think the non "special edition" cars will go up in value as there can only be about 2 of those!

My mate isn't buying it from me after all as his gf won't drive a manual. Actually very happy about it as I'll have a little project to keep me occupied (in addition to the house refurb!). I'll have someone else do the welding for me and I'll do some of the more cosmetic things to help it sell when the time comes.

Hopefully they start creeping up in value as I now have two NB MX5's smile

One of which is a boggo standard, the other is a special edition. I must say I will need to consider which car I keep, there's a very real possibility it will be the new one...

You mentioned the roof and the tyres. Are you going to transfer any bits from the special edition that needs welding over to your car that runs? Interior bits or nicer trims etc.

Both cars run great. I only bought it as I had my catalytic converter nicked and this had new tyres so figured it was a no brainer. Having driven the car I think it's too good to scrap so will fix up the rust. I'm going to have a serious think about which one to keep. I think the roof is better on mine, but I dare say the bodywork is better on the new one. Engine on mine is good, but the new one is the same engine and also seems decent. They've both had recent timing belts etc. Will get the new one cleaned up as best as I can, stick them side by side and probably ask my wife which one she likes the look of better. My blue mx5 now has leather seats, nardi wheel, mohair roof etc. but it was bought originally as a slightly knackered boggo spec car for £500 off a friend.

Does raise the issue of what to do with the catalytic converter, as I may end up back to square one on that front...

I'm tempted to adapt my mx5 to run a decat pipe daily but with a quick bolt out section to put the catalytic converter back in. I'm really paranoid it's going to be stolen again, I don't currently have a garage and much as I'd rather run it with a cat, I won't if it's just going to get stolen again.

weld it, get it through an MOT, don't worry about the cosmetics and enter a targa rally in it. Huge fun for little ££££

Looking to upgrade my shed... wait I mean downgrade....errrrrr spin

Anyway, currently have a tatty sheddy roadster and after two years I need something a bit more practical (back seats and bigger boot).

For this next shed:
  • I'd like to ramp up the comfort (in terms of ride)
  • Cannot be any larger than a 3 series/C-Class (smaller the better)

I'm thinking of a Citroen or Volvo because I've heard they offer comfortable rides - Citeron ideally with hydro suspension, and Volvo because apparently they make the best comfortable seats?

Any thoughts?

Shed news.

The XC70 has been under investigation over the last few weeks and was eventually found that the lugs on the inner pump gear cog had sheared off (apparently). A new set of gears was purchased, fitted, gearbox flushed and finally got it back today.

Gearbox is even better than it was before (and it was OK then) so I'm now in the dilemma of what to do shed wise. I don't need/want two sheds so I need to get rid of either the Accord or the XC.

Having driven the Volvo home, man it's comfy and a nice drive. I think given the mileage and potential for a clutch/MOT in April I might flog the Accord on and keep the XC, but not decided yet.

On its side by the looks of the photo.

I said this out loud and my young nephew is now on the driveway staring upwards. Bless hehe

Yeah I wasn't sure whether to look at puggys, but you're right - it's french which means it'll ride well!

For the last several years I've driven nothing but german cars - but with each one always felt the ride comfort let it down a bit.

2005 54 plate. Ideally you are looking for a 163 Euro 3. Recognisable by the black engine cover. Euro 4s with extra gubbins (dpf/swirl flappery) have grey ones.

Mmmmm...just finished a messenger conversation...

Cars started smoking have I put the right oil in?

After a few questions from me narrowing down the options....it would seem its been topped up to the value of 4.5 or 5 litres.!!!

Told her not yo drive it any more till some has been taken out.

Not sure if damaged yet but I think she's done around 15 miles overfilled.

It's almost as though you pre-empted the monumentally pedantic PHers who demand proof and source. All that's missing is custard.
