Mmmmm...just finished a messenger conversation...

Cars started smoking have I put the right oil in?

After a few questions from me narrowing down the options....it would seem its been topped up to the value of 4.5 or 5 litres.!!!

Told her not yo drive it any more till some has been taken out.

Not sure if damaged yet but I think she's done around 15 miles overfilled.

I stopped a young girl doing that once on the advice of Halfords. It only needed 500ml

Mundane passed it's MOT yesterday. Few advisories that the MOT tester was 'lenient' on and basically told me to sort them out fairly sharp. Mostly just minor things, bulb not pushed in correctly, boot cover needs a jubilee clip etc. Also, front damper is leaking a little and the top mount is grinding, so will just replace the full strut with a used one I imagine.

Anyway, it got a wash using more than an old sponge and some fairy liquid. Friend offered to do it whilst I was messing about with other things in his unit.

Looking at booking ferries over to the continent soon. Road trip to Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Hungary and back home again. Then back a few months later just to Munich, Germany and back.

Also there's a possibility it might take me to Le Mans 24hr this year too.

So plenty more shedding miles for it to do!

Been looking at Volvo C30s at shed budget. Very good looking cars but I can’t help but think it’s just the same as my Focus but with less toys

Whew. Hopefully it’s just come out of something like a breather hose and ended up getting burnt.

Avoid the 1.6 diesel at all costs.

3 of us have a shed lunar mileage race going on at work, with first touch down scheduled for around Oct this year

The leading VW Passat is only 800 miles ahead of me in my Toyota 4Runner

Was quite pleased this week as I took 20 miles out of his lead

He will be away on holiday week after next so I'm hoping to close up the gap by another 400 or so miles

The last place guy is 20,000 miles behind us so he'll only win if we both suffer low moon orbit problems

I'm hopefully off to look at a Renault 19 16v shed this week that runs and drives with MOT.

Gave in and took my shed to the local back street mechanic. Dropped it off yesterday morning when he wasn't there. Left the key in it and went off to work. Only just dawned on me to see if he has the car and that it wasn't stolen by desperate joy riders. Sadly he has it.
Sadly it wasn't stolen, although someone did decide to kick one of the wingmirrors in. Smashed the back off and broke the glass. My mechanic fixed it (badly) without telling me so I wonder if it was a disgruntled resident who is getting fed up with random cars parking on their stretch of road outside their house that they clearly own. You know how it is.. That said, some lads have also been bullying my son at school and are known to have run over cars and kicked wing mirrors already.

Anyway, this was a painful visit for the Zafira. Well my pocket. In the end it was the coil pack that had failed so was replaced with a gen part. The leaky back box was seized on and when being removed the middle pipe ripped the rusty hangers through and then the flexipipe snapped. So a whole new system from the manifold back was needed. The MOT then chucked up a tie rod. All in it's cost £340 this year. A lot when the car cost £200 but not much for, hopefully, another years motoring. I did think about weighing it in but other than these things it's been a reliable old bus and I think many more years left in it...

I had one of these for a year back in the day and the memories are certainly not fond ones. Hope you have better luck than I had that's for sure... it went through one radiator, 2 gearboxes, 2 clutch cables and numerous other little things that I think have blanked from my memory.

Jumped in the 406 this morning and noticed that the 'Rapier' badges on both front wings now spell 'Rapie'. Could have been like this for weeks for all I know.

Whilst I'm not supposed to care what others think about my car, I'm concerned this is sending out some dodgy vibes.

Perhaps I could partially cover it up with an 'ST' badge.

What do you guys think. I'm no longer doing big miles so I'm planning on selling my MK3 megane 1.5 DCI shed. It's been ultra reliable and cheap to run (has to be the king of bargain diesel sheds) however it's just passed 135,000 miles and with no record of clutch or DMF being done I am concerned if anything goes the value could plummit. Thinking it's gotta be worth at least a grand with almost full documented service history including timing belt 20k miles ago. MOT til October too. My mate at work has a 07 C4 1.6 petrol that is just sitting about and he wants £350 for it. It's almost at 120k but just passed its MOT with one advisory for a front tyre. Anyone drove one of these? I quite like the quirky french style.

So changing the boost sensor on my Octavia 1.9 TDI helped a little but still getting turbo issues which must be the vanes sticking. So I put a bottle of that in, 40L of diesel and took it for 30 mile run. First 10 miles turbo cut out twice, but once it clearly got through it’s made the car a different car to drive. It pulls right through to 4,500rpm in 2nd, 3rd and 4th - keeps the boost Nicely but just pulls so much better with no lag.

I must admit I was a bit sceptical on this working but reviews seemed good - I just couldn’t understand how it wouldn’t combust before it had chance to reach the turbo. I’m not expecting it to last forever, but maybe one of these a month will keep car running better for now until I can be bothered to faff around with mr muscle during the nice warmer summer months.

Edit - pic wasn’t that way on my iPad !!
