Should have clarified, I was getting in early as my MOT was due mid-April.

I've also signed up for NHS volunteering so my Micra is doing what it was born for, house to house deliveries.
Just not pizza/kebabs like every other one round here. hehe

Snap, I have also signed up to help deliver medicine and equipment between NHS.

Time to put the shed into use if needed.

Good man. I'm similar and volunteering back in a hospital I used to work in which means I'll be using my shed to commute in.

The issue I've got though is I'm still running my winter tyres.

I had planned to have the swapped back to my normal tyres this week but unsure what availability of tyre fitters I have at the moment and the legality of going to visit one.

How badly am I going to shag the winter tyres running them in warmer weather? I can imagine if I don't get them changed soon then it could be a month or two (or longer, who knows!) before this lock-down eases up and with temperatures up to 13'c recently it's likely to get warmer still.

Can't see an issue, my Dad has ran them all year around in the past on his company car and never caused any adverse wear or issues.

Yeah, I’ve run them all year with no issue. If you drive hard they’ll wear quicker, but not that quickly.

I'm already very bored of WFH and barely driving and I'm sure many shedders are the same.
How about we share a recent photo of our current (and barely moving) sheds?

Here's my 83K mile, filthy looking 1.4 Micra shed. smile

Hope everyone is well!!

I had a bit of misjudgement in my Accord last week and smacked into a low wall at work, first time I've ever hit anything driving (I blame this bloody pandemic).

Anyway, managed to snap the intercooler off its bracket and stick a great hole in it. Whipped the bumper off last weekend and thankfully that's the only damage so ordered a second hand one off ebay for £25,hopefully fit it this weekend and get it back running at least, not that I'm driving it anywhere.

Plus, some silver lining with this MOT break, will give me a few more months to get a few things sorted, MOT was due on 28th April!!

I'm started to get bored of my mk2 Focus shed so I'm eyeing up something rather juicy on eBay for roughly the same price... let's see what happens.

Then out of the blue last week, the guy who bought my manual 9-5 aero estate 2-years ago for £1k texted me to say he's selling it at the end of the month due to needing a diesel. Couple of options now hehe
Whereabouts are you based? I fancy a mk2 focus if it's mechanically good

Recent picture (ish).

Annoying me not been able to drive it much, I was enjoying putting 1 - 1,500 miles on it per month. It's only car I'm using at the moment for our 'essential' trips. Just short of 173k now.

In the past I have run winter tyres all year round with no wear issue, they didn't melt when it was 30C as people were saying they would.

However I wonder what the situation would be with insurance if you had an accident ? Would they not be bothered or would the use of winter tyres outside of "winter" be an issue. Luckily I never had to find out.
I know many countries in Europe legislate for the use of winter tyres from October to March and it invalidates your insurance if you don't and need to claim.

I had two new tyres fitted yesterday in order to keep my car roadworthy so if you can find a garage/ tyre fitting place open then it is presumably ok to use them.

My understanding from the garage I used is that they have not been told to close and can carry out essential repairs etc, although many have closed voluntarily for 3 weeks or so.

when and if you folks return to Italy for your summer hols look at the tyres on the (usually dented Italian) cars many of them will be running on winters, Their summers are hotter than ours for sure.

Another 12 months MoT for my shed today. I asked for a quote to put all the advisory’s right and he told me they’re not starting any repairs at the moment Incase the parts don’t get delivered and they’re stuck with a dismantled car in the garage.
It got me wondering if any of the advisory’s would have been a fail on a normal day but the tester knew they couldn’t do any work so put it as an advisory?

Yup, they usually keep them on all year round down there.

A question for all you esteemed shedists. I’ve been offered a 2006 Honda Accord 2.2 diesel, 180k miles, 12 months mot ( advisories were front number plate deteriorated, back tyres near limit), all books, 2 keys, new discs and pads last year, well serviced by my local mechanic. It drives really well, £450. I’ve no real need for the car, but I feel this is a good deal. What do you good people think ?
Cheers ,Andy.

Same engine I've got in my civic, it's excellent. Only thing to look out for on these is the clutch. Mine got changed at 103k, but was noticeably slipping from 54k. If you take it on a D/C and floor it in 5th/6th and it doesn't slip you'll be fine. Sounds like a great buy smile
