You're not doing this right! If you're going to scrap it, you've got to run it into the ground first...

Has anyone run a Jaguar X-Type as a shed, specifically a 3.0 V6, who can provide some insight as to how good a shed it might be?
It would usually be really thirsty and rotten.I've just put my very late 2009 car to sleep for rot - the petrol ones tend not to exist after about 07, in which case, most are rotten.
Owners seem happy with the oily bits on them, though.

A small update on our ageing grey Focus, this is the one we'll be replacing this year, took it for a drive yesterday to be greeted with the smell of diesel in the cabin, pulled over and it looks "wet" around one of the injectors, not good!
You will need to get those blue gloves out again MrGTI6 said:
I am also of the opinion that there is less to go wrong with a basic car. But firstly, I can't understand why the armrest would be expected to break on the Focus. And secondly, why on earth would that write the car off? Perhaps it's a joke that's gone straight over my head, wouldn't be the first time!
My Focus Mk1 Ghia should have an armrest but doesn't. I am assuming it broke off at some stage. However, it clearly hasn't written off the car!Agree with all the comments about having less tech on a car. Also seems to drain the battery less, something that is relevant in these lockdown days when the car isn't driven for days. I know I can leave my car for a week or two in cold weather and it will fire up crisply. can't always say that about newer cars. I also don't think I'd run an older diesel as a shed. Far more tech to pack up than on a simple n/a petrol engined shed. I never have to worry about the EGR valve, turbo, injectors etc, etc.

I had a mk2 Focus Ghia and the armrest also snapped off! Didn't write the car off thankfully and I repaired it with some superglue. Cruise control and everything else on it worked perfectly too, it was a great car for the money! Agree with all the comments about having less tech on a car. cruise control,Which will break and write the focus off id sooner have the panda which hasnt got it
the list goes on.most of which will break and write the focus off id sooner have the panda which hasnt got any of it
What an absolute load of twoddle this post is...auto wipers, Which will break and write the focus off id sooner have the panda which hasnt got it
front and rear armrest, Which will break and write the focus off id sooner have the panda which hasnt got it
cruise control,Which will break and write the focus off id sooner have the panda which hasnt got it

Auto Lights & Wipers - All cars with auto lights & wipers legally still have to have manual control, never known that to stop working on a shed
Cruise Control - You can drive perfectly fine with your hands and feet, cruise doesn't work in our C4 Coupe and a couple old 9-3's I had
Most bizarre one is Arm Rests ... how on earth is an arm rest breaking going to write off a car??

Check with caution, I was seriously interested in getting one last year but the couple I went to see all had quite nasty rot in the sills and that seems a pretty common theme if you google it3.0 V6 in those is a ford unit, and pretty hardy

Exactly the point I was trying to make in my post. I spent £300, one hinge on the armrest was broken (affected lifting it, not using it in general) which I fixed with superglue as you did with yours.
Everything else still working on mine, despite being fitted with the devil's own optional equipment such as cruise/auto lights/wipers.
I know from experience you're extremely unlikely to find a Panda of any age, in anywhere near decent condition for £300.
Even if you did manage it (friend of a friend, etc) it'll not be as well equipped.
Again, the 169 Panda is one of my favourite cars, I'm not bashing them.
I'll say it again: car values are strange.

Indeed. This is what happens occasionally when one of the nutters from "General Gassing" stumbles on the Shed thread! I wonder if Leroy was on the sauce yesterday lunchtime when he posted that.
To be fair to him, I checked his recent post history before I replied and I'm fairly certain there are some things in there that would go some way to explain it, hence I didn't feel the need to respond directly as it wouldn't be fair. Edited by OllieJolly on Monday 22 February 13:19

Yes but should one of my wheel trims fall off then that's a different story, should I lose a trim from one of my steelies then I shall immediately scrap the car.
