Anyone else read this article in Shmee's voice?
Since reading Sniff Petrol yesterday, I've been reading EVERYTHING in Shmee-voice, and pretty much every internal monologue now starts with 'Hi GUYS...'

I'm not enjoying it.

Profiteering on the part of MSO and McLaren.

And if people will pay through the nose for it for it, good luck to their business model. Hopefully they’ll one day make a car not based on the same carbon tub and Ricardo V8.
Alright, Corbyn... what do you expect them to do? Not bother making money? Leave opportunities to make more money on the table?

They are a business, not building a 'car for the people' comrade.

Do I not understand the ultra expensive car thing correctly? Surely, with enough money you could have someone paint your car any colour you wanted anyway? How is this so special? You'd expect them to offer a service like that as a standard extra-over?

It seems somewhat of a waste when you cover what could potentially be a lighter car with paint (Weight). make them lighter, not brighter!
Say tomorrow you are in the market for a new (secondhand) car, would you go for a car that has been resprayed, or one that left the factory that way? I'd be questioning the motive behind the respray, sure it might be just had a respray, or possibly had a shunt and might as well respray the whole thing. I'd always go for original given the choice.

As for making it lighter I would guess that's this new method mentioned (sounds like a wrap the way it's described) but it probably saves a few grams over paint & lacquer. Making it standard would be possible but they'd no doubt get called out for penny pinching, so why not have it as an option for those who don't mind paying a bit extra. It also mentions how colour matches will be 100% which isn't that important on a car like this, because most will never require bodywork, but if used as a test piece, they get information on how it holds up on the road and if as hard wearing as paint, leaves it open for 100% full custom colours (think using a hex code to spec your colour)

I don't understand the hate for Mclaren, I think it's great to see a small British company doing well and would love to own anything from their lineup.

Have I stumbled onto the wrong forum? When did carbon fibre chassis + mid engined V8 equate to anything other than pure petrol head nirvana?

At the risk of applying common sense to this arena of vehicle. If it's not painted which really is the ultimate customisation - IE someone has to mix and spray for individual clients tastes in a bespoke colour and sheen (not easily replicated) ensuring the individuality most of these clients look for.... then you are looking at what no-one seems to be saying here a wrap....

Want that - Take a vanilla car, load the non paint options and take to a wrap specialist - there are many to choose from including the ever popular gentleman on TV Yianni (other wrapper's exist - excuse the pun) and save yourself a fortune?

Buy the car and options - colour these days if you have the funds is transient.

Hi guys I’m Shmeeeeeeeeeeeeee. Only joking.
Quite shocked by the amount of negative.
Am I the only one who thinks this lifts the look of the car? I like the fact the scoops and fins are accentuated.
If I was in the market I’d be sitting discussing such options to personalise my car the way I want it. In fact I’d also have the highlight run from the bottom of A pillar back to the engine cover. I’ve seen some La Ferrari’s with this and it really improves the gloss black canopy.
Happy weekend guys. And in Shmees finest cheesy voice. Cheeeeeerrrrssss

Matter of opinion. I think it looks fantastic (although without the green accents).

Just one that's a bit cheaper, heavier and not quite as good sounding. Same with any car that offers different exhaust options. It just means the price of the base car is cheaper than it otherwise would be.

Erm ... I think you'll find that the cost of manufacturing standard and sports exhausts ... and standard and cost option wheels, trim, paint etc. are not that far apart.

It is rampant profiteering by ALL manufacturers, they charge more because buyers will pay more for options.
