Brings back memories of my 323i. It never failed to surprise how easy it was to end up facing the wrong way on a roundabout after too much enthusiasm in the wet. A valuable learning exercise for my then 20 year old me!
Power-on oversteer.....followed by lift-off oversteer on the 185s no doubt
They were pretty cheap 20 years back

I'm going to post a few interesting cars I've found recently on eBay. All relatively cheap too.

This is number 1

You need to read the description to appreciate this one although it looks magnificent as is. I'll add a little teaser:

BMW individual ruby black paintwork
BMW individual platinum Merino extended leather

Having recently undergone a complete respray at Rybrook Worcester BMW

Even the interior leather under went a £1600 professional restoration to look and feel like new

£6400

Not keen on the 6 Series coupe, but I do like the Gran Coupe for some reason.

This is number 3

This had a full outer respray 2 years ago to give it a new lease of life.

It had new lights fitted front and rear.

My Z4M Coupe was individual ruby black metallic, pictures never do it justice. Stunning colour and if I ever do a custom build it would be high on my list of choices for any car.

Owned by a PHer and appears to have been sold very recently. A cheap little track starter car. Surely that's something we are allowed to do even during this new normal.

And I've no doubt it needed it after 200K miles.

Lovely looking thing though.

As a contrast to a bunch of good value BMWs (being of the age where they're just old and unwanted, and not yet a 'classic'), I stumbled upon some mad prices for old Jeep Cherokees. I'm amazed if anyone in the UK likes them enough to pay £15000 for one!!!

There are several listed in the £10-15k range.
yikes

The BMW looks great and I dare say it, it’s ageing very well. Bangle was universally hated, including by me, but he produced some timeless designs.

However, at 200k miles mains and conrod bearings will definitely be on borrowed time. Quite likely the rings will be gone too. I would like to see evidence of valve stem seals replacement and at least two oil changes for the gearbox.

Mind you, at £6.5k if the body and interior check out, it still is pretty decent VFM as the mechanicals are still relatively simple/well documented issues and widely available both as alternative OEM parts or 2nd hand...

That is LOW!!!

Even my 330D Touring of the same vintage, but just on factory Sport/M-Sport suspension, catches the underneath on speed bumps, so that thing must have had the underside 're-profiled' significantly wink

I don't like the low and I dont like the wheels but I do like that someone has spent good money on it. I prefer buying other people's projects because I can't be bothered investing my time into doing them. So I'm not sure its a good buy for me because I'd never get round to sorting the suspension and instead I would just keep cursing it for being too low.

My wife had a 6er as her company car for a year... but only a lowly 645, not a 650.

It had some good points (good looking, quick, comfy, seating for 4, well built, lots of kit), but it wasn’t great to drive. Main issue was the steering, which was overly light and not that accurate, and it also didn’t feel that well tied down.

I like the way they look, but wouldn’t have one.

As much as I'd like the V8, the potential maintenance would put me off and into a 630i.

I just don’t like the headlights/front end styling on that shape 6

Yeah the front end isn't great. But the bum is good. And I am definitely a bum man.

My boss in 2004 had a brand new 645i. I drove it a couple of times and didn't really gel with it. Fast forward and now I know it would have had run flats which are hateful things.

I think it is basically an e60 underneath which seem quite solid if you ask me.

The owner of that one looks to have thrown the kitchen sink at it in terms of maintenance and upkeep.

As good as the 3.0 ltr lump is, it cannot hold a candle to the N62B48 - if in good health, the last NA V8 by BMW is a masterpiece...

And if you want it in a gentlemen's sized vehicle then it has to be the 6.
