Impact bumper targa in pink? Good grief, man
I know it sounds bad if you describe it to someone, but it's flipping awesome!ATM said:

My brother had a Spitfire (similar colour), and I managed to fit in that

No single disastrous bill but I can tell you, my God can I tell you, that floating from one £500 bill to another almost month to month in that time frame is genuinely horrific. Bear in mind this was the 'forum' car I had, it'd had thousands spent on upkeep before I bought it.
Even after all that there's still the potential (and likely at that) issue of valve stem oil seals to address. In cold weather there was more often than not a misfire at start-up due to a known issue with the valvetronic. Albeit ultimately a minor issue, you try selling a car like that on to someone who isn't one of the barge initiated.
Very good engine when it worked but the feeling for me was always 'what next?' and it's just not a healthy position to be in. I assume the x50i cars sorted some issues over the x45i ones but I just get the feeling that a high mileage N62 is just chunky bills waiting to happen.
I think the turning point for me must have been the day I collected it after getting the alternator bracket leak fixed. Drove to the supermarket from the garage and when I came back out there was a puddle of coolant under the car. It couldn't even muster half an hour without grief.
I wasn't alien to spending a lot on upkeep, an e39 M5 saw to that. But it's far easier to tolerate knowing what it is and it never actually let me down.
So yeah, for a 'run of the mill' BMW, keep the 100 horses and give me the 6 any day of the week.
I would consider that as epic cheap motoring.
I would also add that it used no oil between services and drove as well the day I sold it, as the day I bought it. A wonderful machine.
eta; sounded subtle and wonderful.

Also M1 and how much for a Cecotto?????
M3 seems expensive, M1 seems cheap. It looks good on the car but the wheels look too skinny for the arches - I suppose fitting wider fronts would make it tramline straight to hell.
The other car we spoke about is apparently going to made road legal...

Get basic car chassis from BMW, follow instructions to convert to Procar...
Attach various body parts
That 'other car' will be an interesting road car, may be a little tricky to pass the noise regs without muting it a little.

... a 650i in 2011 with 38k miles and ran it to 201k miles ... valve stem seals...
That's some good mileage. May I ask what the approximate cost of the valve stem seals job was? And what were the symptoms that necessitated the work?
I have a German V8 on 130k+ miles and I have read this can be one of the first wear-related engine jobs for my engine (Cayenne).

I've noticed that there's a grandparent at the school that does the morning drop off in either a 190E or BMW E24 B10. I keep asking my little girl to make friends with his grandson

+15% buyer's premium and another 1.2% for buying online, so a £60k hammer puts you at around £70k. Still value at that, IMO. There just can't/won't be things like that made anymore. 60k miles is likely too many for quite a few buyers but still quite possibly going to go beyond the £60k based on other recent results.Fast Bug said:

Do it, Dan.
