Sure like everything else.... Anyway last weekend I saw this a local meet which, I am guessing it's worth a lot less but liked it all the same.

The car that really caught my eye among all the usual modern bling and over restored stuff was this well used and slightly worse for wear group N rally Integrale, owned for over 20 years by John Whalley ex Lancia specialist from Bishops Stortford and who used to look after my Integrale back in the day, it still gets out on the rally stage from time to time for demos, it's a car that gets used , definitely more my kind of thing.

It's Hexagon so they know how to charge as well laugh

I think I prefer the red one posted, or a slightly scruffy C Coupe would be perfect.

My favourite is the Puma. Not strictly a VW, but based on the Ghia TC floorpan with 1500cc air cooled engine and box. Pretty little things smile

That is gorgeous.

I've been off for a few days and been using the 996 as much as possible. I was only thinking to myself how good it sounded, and then I watched this

I need to earn more money....

My 996 has been neglected a bit lately, it's been turfed out of the garage and parked on the lawn whilst we do a kitchen refurb. But the benefit of that is that I don't have to move all of the cars to get it out of the garage, so it's been used more. I kind of forgot how much fun it was down a country lane, how easy it is to press on it the car and how practical it is and how much my kids love it.

I do think that for the money (or even a tad more) that a nice 996 is hard to beat yes

The only other options I can think of the top of my head that do similar for a similar £ (mid teens to mid twenties)

Esprit (S4/GT3)
968
E46 M3 (stretching the criteria I admit)
Cerbera

968 is a great car. I've driven a well fettled Sport a few times and love it, but I don't think I'd have one instead of a 996. I've not driven an Esprit, it's something that I'd like to have a drive of at some point, but it's not as usable as a 996 due to the lack of rear seats. M3 is nice, but doesn't feel special really.

I kept getting drawn to this 997

www.jzmporsche.com/used-vehicle-details/Porsche-91...

But sensibility gets the better of me, I'd need to borrow money etc, want to move house next year. But then for that money it opens up a 993 etc etc. I think I'll stick with what I've got a keep the wife happy laugh

Not sure how true it is, the trailer had a rear numberplate from a '65 plate Defender frown.

That 997 is just about the perfect spec.
