X1/9 is very cool. My mum had a Fiat 126 in a similar colour back in the day!

What's the thread view on Z1s? I've always fancied one since I sat in one in a BMW showroom as a teenager

this doesn't seem too badly priced compared to other things at the moment.

Cool as fk

E30 running gear underneath

But bespoke bodywork and no idea on parts availability. BMW have become more and more arsey of late with regards to their classic line up. NLA is cropping up far too often with regards to parts for my liking. Even the E46 is beginning to suffer...

Anyone got an experience of Lotus Eclats/Excels? Slightly worried I may drunkenly bid on this...

I love them. I'd have one of these for summer evening runs to the coast for Moules Frites and an 850CSi for longer schelps as my dream garage. Today.

And a man in the know to look after them. And quite the bork-chest.

I remember parking up next to one at a Goodwood many years ago when I had my E30 and starting a conversation with the owner. He commented that he had an M3 like mine at home but took the Z1 out for special occasions smile

Always loved them. I thought they did one with a camouflage interior but can't seem to find it. Maybe it was something else. scratchchin

I have a bit of a soft spot for the Z1. I remember walking past Snows BMW in Portsmouth with my parents and seeing one in the showroom, I must have been 10 or 11 at the time. Coolest doors ever!

The did indeed. On many cars with it it's faded so it's not easy to see.

BMW seem to be losing the plot.

Agreed. And that was also pretty much the view of my 8 year old son!

I think you'd have to be brave. Reading between the lines, it sounds like:
- not touched for 15 years
- bodywork knackered
- electrics untested so high risk of all kinds of issues

If you're uber-handy with spanners and fancy doing a full restoration then go for it. As a running restoration over time while using it, I'd suggest no way.

I'm glad someone finally noticed this. I was beginning to think the thread had died.

I can't remember ever hearing anyone extolling their dynamic characteristics or virtues as a drivers' car. wink

I've only ever seen them at car meets and in pub car parks with owners posing with the "doors" down. At which they excel. biggrin

There was a Wheeler Dealers Z1 episode on Quest last week which I hadn't seen before. I'm betting it's quite a fun little thing to drive compared to a lot of modern stuff and the engine will sound good too.

No. tongue out

The camouflage pattern becomes difficult to see, so it is no longer looks like camouflage, just very slightly patterned leather which could be just wear.

I don't think putting camouflage leather on a seat make it particularly difficult to see, it's still pretty obviously a seat.
