My dad had one so I took a few pics of them for him. Not my cup of tea. Would prefer to kill myseff in a Testarossa.

Do you think you'd fit in one?

I’ve seen Catchpole drive one and he’s a lanky sod, so I reckon I’d at least be able to get in it and drive... not sure for how long it would be before the cramp set in though.

T5…I sold privately. Mentioned on the 4C thread that she was going to be put on Collecting Cars after I’d just tidied and prepped her. Was contacted by a member and did the deal. She was priced to sell given her miles, but a fully loaded spec and pampered at Alfaworks.

Easy buyer to deal with, open and honest on both our sides. He got a spanking car, loved the Alfa!
Thanks, it’s nice to hear it’s gone to someone from here rather than the trade, it sounds like a good deal for everyone!
I’m at Alfaworks with mine in a couple of weeks for the big service plus bolts, I’m lucky that Aw are only 10 miles up the road, a really nice bunch to deal with too.
Good luck with the replacement, it does look rather lovely!

I always wanted one of these when they were current - they seemed such a good looking car.

However now I can buy a 'new' one sadly I don't really want to.

Still a nice looking car though.

Yes good looking car with the roof down

BUT

Almost all convertibles from 2000 or so backwards look rubbish with their roof up. These roofs look more like a lid or temporary cover than an integrated roof. The 306 isn't truly awful closed but the side profile shows some very suspicious gaps. And the big step up above the windscreen. Hardly snug is it.

The final pic showing the complicated mechanism fills me with dread. Would you trust the French to make this stand the test of time.

I thought I'd add a pic of a Ferrari 360 too as it is one of the worst looking roofs I have seen from this era. Looks like a school children design project. Clearly the Italians not much better than the French.

hehe I had an S1 Elise for a few years, and got quite adept at putting it up when it caught out in the rain. A friend at the time likened it to putting up a tent, and he's not wrong!

Never even sat in one. I do remember shortly after they came out I saw a 'young man' pull up at a service station in one. I watched as he carefully cleaned the sill before attempting his exit. He seemed to have his routine well organised but clearly a wet sill would have been less than ideal.

The MX5 hood was simplified perfection. Couldn’t fault it.

Anyway…the silly Italian is due for collection on Tuesday.
This being The Thread, logical things like being the local, cheaper car down at Carrs in Exeter obviously don’t apply. Nope…it’s Devon all the way across to Kent to pick her up.

I enjoyed the 90 minute road trip to pick up my new company smoker the other week, and that's not a Ferrari laugh

Goodwood has some lovely roads around it, pick up the A272 to Winchester, short trip up the A34 and you can head towards the south west again easily past stonehenge.
