How have people been finding selling their uneconomical barges recently?
I think lots of cars are priced strong and just not selling. Surely even the average Joe is now looking at the news and thinking is now a good time to buy a new uneconomical barge. All my none car type friends are talking electric and have been for a while.Biglips said:
Let’s hope so. More for us to buy at knock down prices!
I'd like to believe that but starting prices for an awful lot of things is too high just now.Exception looks to be XFR's. Not sure what they were down to circa 2019/20 but they're outrageous performance for the money compared to a lot of the German metal.

Good ones were down to about 11k in 2020. I know as i bought one that's currently up for sale for not much more. Trust me to pick a car that didn't rocket up! Exception looks to be XFR's. Servicing is far cheaper on them too compared to the Germans.

I take it from reading your garage section you still rate them very highly?
Yeh they are superb cars, their reputation for handling and ride balance is well deserved. The engine is something else and contrary to popular opinion of JLR (on here at least) it's been reliable too.Mine has a spires exhaust and the outrageously good Bowers and Wilkins stereo. On any other 12 year old car an obnoxious after market exhaust and banging stereo could be one for the council thread, but the Jag gets away with it which i love.
Only getting rid as my wife finds it too much, but may end up keeping it yet. Unlike the Germans there is no new jaguar equivalent squeezing the prices, so seems a fair place to park some cash.

Thanks. I think in that case it may be the engine that Harris boosted up to its ultimate demise as an S4 then? Hopefully unstressed in standard output.
Yes I think 500 bhp is possible and then it's the gearbox which becomes the weak point. The engine wasn't used for long due to tightening emissions I believe. ATM said:

There was talk at the time that they did it to use up a bunch of Diesel engines when demand dropped off after Dieselgate. How true that is, I know not. the more i think about it, i reckon it wasn't anything to do with the performance characteristics of oil burners or whatever, it was just that they didn't want to develop yet another IC engine to only last a few years.
