I can think of a few reasons, but I wonder if your question might bring a few more old names out of the woodwork. biggrin

It coughed, and had a little lie down, but it isn’t dead.

Sounds interesting so let's keep it out there.

Why did this once prolific and interesting thread die and become (almost) a random non-event?

I think it's more than 10 years but definitely a lot has happened to the posters from back in the day.

Quite a few just got pissed off with PH.

There are no doubt more interesting reasons for the departure of certain others.

Perhaps it’s because posters click on links in the thread and disappear into a black hole of fantasy wallet draining purchases and forget how they got there.

This happens to me frequently, and I’m sure I can’t be alone in this respect.

Having to sit on my hands to stop me bidding on this money pit.

If I had a barn to strip it out & work on it in then maybe…

Most never made it back from a foray into Balkan Disco.

Morning folks, good to see this thread still around and since it seems fashionable ( I have never been fashonabul in my life once/ever) thought I'd throw in my efforts.

Both the Jeep SRT and TVR Cerbera were sold off to fund house stuff over the last few years. More importantly (as I realise many of you will be wondering....the caravan was also sold too. I apologise that I can no longer wax lyrical about 13 pin electrics. With the most girly ( are you still allowed to say that?) looking boggo Fiat 500 in Bianca white with matching white interior as the stand in transport wagon I felt I had to resign my commission until common sense/funds allowed. Incidentally, the look on the delivery driver's face when he dropped off the 500 (59 pulsating bhp) and drove off in the 485 bhp Jeep was priceless. Or at least it was until I realised what I had just done....bugger

We looked around for interesting stuff last summer, bought an MX5 that lasted 2 weeks before the gearbox broke, tried an M135i....meh, just not for us and then realised that Alpina had been on the radar for years but it had never actually happened. So, up popped this one about 600 miles away, deal done and delivered unseen. It's a '98 B10 V8 (4.6), not perfect but very nice in Oxford green with gold deco stripes and beige interior, double glazing, comfort seats etc. Have done lots of the usual brakes, service, general titivation and I have to say I'm really enjoying it so far. It's not an M5 but at less than half the price I can stick some miles on it and not worry!

threads change over time. Funny threads get invaded by the easily offended, quality threads get invaded by trolls... etc.

Just looking at this thread and seeing these pics again makes me realise again how good looking that car is - in terms of it being in good condition and shiny etc. I mean the shape is shocking - it is after all just a basic [and small] square box on wheels. But how good does it look - or is it only good looking to Me?

Nice Alpina Sticky, from an era when BMW made nice looking cars.

Or maybe it's just me getting old?

It looked ok the first time it was posted, but by the 85th time of someone quoting the full post with pics....
