I really want a V10 before the world implodes but I need it to be a V10 in flashing, on fire, radioactive neon. It needs to shout at me "I AM A V10!" every. single. time. Much like a CGT is I suspect and the M5 / M6 is. High revving insane F1 inspired lunacy.
I think the Lambo engines and exec Audi car engines are very different, right?ETA https://www.evo.co.uk/audi/s6/6395/audi-s6

ISTR the press blurb stating that the S6 donk was from the Gallardo.

In the finest of internet investigations I watched YouTube on the S6 and the M5 and concluded the BMW is the more dramatic of the power / V10ness. ETA https://www.evo.co.uk/audi/s6/6395/audi-s6

That's a lot of car for the money!
I saw an RS6 with the twin turbo V10 (Avant) last weekend. They are fantastically understated compared to the current Audi steroidal offerings.
This may be a stupid question but how does the engine present itself for want of a better term? Is it as 'V10' as say, an M5 /M6?
Back in the day I believe the S6 V10 was known as a bit lacking in Torque at lower revs and therefore you needed to rev it to get the best out of it. Not sure where I got that from so could be rubbish.I saw an RS6 with the twin turbo V10 (Avant) last weekend. They are fantastically understated compared to the current Audi steroidal offerings.

They are very tuneable and for around £1500.00 ish MRC will get you around 750 bhp and the same in torque. Then you're in frantic territory but need to be mindful of brake upgrades etc. Biggest regret for mine was not tuning it but it ticked a massive box to have owned one.
Don’t think there’s been much Saab content on here lately, so will just place this here (auto and 4-dr noted): https://www.carandclassic.com/car/C1434861
May be very model specific but I was admiring a post Bobby Ewing SL that was in for service at our local Mercedes specialist and the owner (of the garage) was saying how much a nightmare it was getting parts for classic Mercedes these days.
Reckons you're alright if you're in the USA or Germany as there are specialists there who have taken up the slack but Mercedes UK have no support for classics now.
He was having to fabricate gaskets that were NLA even as pattern parts.

i'd be keeping it here in dubai. used to having to source and import everything but weirdly there is an excellent classic merc restorer and the cars i've seen at meets have all been first rate.
priced at under 6k gbp so if it runs, is complete and rust free, i think i might be needing another parking space. been looking for a lwb w108/9 as a project but think this would net a better end result.

Any thread experience / opinion on the w114 merc coupe? This one has come up for sale locally, needs a lot of work just wondering how much work, and what to look for. There’s also a c36amg going for a song, weekend drinking is formulating a dangerous plan.
Well, this has temped me out of posting retirement.I had an 280ce one of these and it was a great car. Super comfortable to cruise around in and amazingly practical, it's got a massive boot. I used to take the front wheel off my bike and pop it in.
It could also easily keep up with modern traffic, but smoothly.
No horror stories with it and I used it as a daily for quite a while.
One of the few cars I'd own again...
DO IT!

Great news
Is the plan to make it a bit more Goodwood Revival or keep generally as is once all resolved? Particularly as it replaced your actual track car
Keeping it as-is; it's already Goodwood Revival in my book having made it to the Pre-'66 parking for two days this year. Is the plan to make it a bit more Goodwood Revival or keep generally as is once all resolved? Particularly as it replaced your actual track car

I had a primrose diesel 4 door as my second ever car. Never really worked so if it works then yes, lovely.Marcus-7tcc2 said:
I had a C6 RS6 saloon for about a year. Amazing battering ram of a thing. Drinks fuel like crazy (average 16 mpg) and pretty dull in the twisties. Lots have been abused so choose wisely (RS246 forum for one). Make sure two things have been done-oil plug and water coolant lines as they are £££ to fix. But you buy it for 'that' engine and its a masterpiece and never to return.

I gather that fixing rust on old mercs can be crushingly complicated and expensive, so if the car in Dubai is rust-free(ish) and you're not worried about getting every last bit of trim immaculate and factory-spec, go for it!

Nice to see one in such good condition but I find the saloons very awkward looking... Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
