A dodgy looking 234,000 mile E92....

Yeah, no.

I know it's the festive period but 7pm is a bit early to be stfaced.

Can't help but think it would look nicer on the saloon. The E92 is very oddly proportioned.

A very nice looking late 986 Boxster here. Lots of nice upgrades and work done including engine rebuild.

Looks nice for a 986. As someone who paid >£11k for a 986S in about 2011, I struggle with the idea of paying £9k for one now.

It's possible that they'll rise in price over the next few years, so you may struggle further when they are £15K+. smile

My coping mechanism is not to remember what I sold my cars for ... hehe

The stance on that is perfect. Amazing what a set of different wheels and springs can achieve.

Peak Honda?

Even at that money the reliability of these cars & the running costs would probably make it the cheapest motoring ever.

Quite right. I got tired of saying the likes of E34 M5s will one day be worth strong money that I forgot they might be myself biggrin

Better to have loved and lost (out in a fortune) than never to have loved at all! Or something

It's this kind of stuff that makes me a bit sad about the ULEZ. But it means for everyone who doesn't live in cities there won't be as much competition to nab such a great car.

I have 0 need for that car but I really want it. A smile comes over me when I see something old and unassuming like this trundling past me. Whoever owns it doesn't own it because it's the best/cheapest/fastest/comfiest/most efficient car for the job, they own it because it tugs on a string in them somewhere and then compromise on everything else.

That could be the perfect companion for someone who is already well established in the Black Pork camp, especially with some Gold wheels. I'm trying to mix it up colour wise in my Pork camp. My little red Boxster has been fighting for life. Its the car I most want to like but dont like enough and I think this is because I just dont fit in it. I get all excited about driving it and then after 5 minutes start thinking why are my knees in the wrong place. I tried 997 seats for a while and these were much better but not great. I used to tell myself it is ok for little journeys to Asda and what not. Which is basically what most of my driving is these days.

So I decided it is crunch time. I needed to take action and decide once and for all if it is staying or going. This is a difficult decision after lusting for another 986 for 4 or 5 years or more and now that I have one I dont need to do that any more. So I had already sourced some Recaro bucket seats with BBI mounts but these didnt really work as is. So now I have pinched the Pole Positions out of my CSR and these seem to fit much better. For now I am just driving around with the driver seat in. I have much more legroom and my knees are where they should be. Its not perfect as I find the Pole Positions a bit too much 'shoulders forward' but that's very minor and I can live with it for now. Its probably because I am such a massive beef cake.

hehe If I'd had the choice I think I would have gone Cobalt blue on mine. I don't mind the black but it's annoying how it only looks good when it's really clean. So I like the Boxster despite its colour!

Good effort on all the seat swapping to try to make the 986 work for you. smile
