I still have all my toy/model cars, some are a bit worse for wear hehe

My proper model cars are still in boxes/on mounts, got far too many really!

One of my favourite Matchbox cars;

https://www.carandclassic.com/auctions/1985-skoda-...

Soft spot alert! The first cat I got to drive alone a few hours after passing my test. A bright ORANGE (!!) Estelle 1050 that belonged to my mum. They built them tough, even I failed to break it but it did teach me about understeer.....4 speed 'box, single speaker for the MW radio and alloys that looked a bit like a Caterham's from back then.
My mate used to borrow his mum’s Estelle and we’d go off driving the green lanes in Barton. One evening we found a canoe (this is absolutely true) and having a tow rope in the car I was towed behind in the canoe around the tracks.

Life was different back then…
That wee story went down rather well in the pub last night!

The colour concepts were cool.

Very 1990s. Very Max Power, but better execution in comparison to spraying your dash with Folia-tec spray, buying a cheap PU leather gear gaiter and having a saggy leather retrim.

Made the dull looking MK3 a bit more exciting.

Colour Concepts were 8v only so most of them had their interior removed and put in a higher spec car.

Yes. Same friend also had a Mk1 Astra with nitrous (he kept a big bottle in his garage) then a Delta 4wd with a remap (alledged at 240bhp) a KR-1 with a sidewinder sidecar when he was 17, towed me in a bike trailer behind his CB350 when he became a courier, then moved on to the BX(cellent) that we would all pile into for deliveries to Scotland or wherever (this was the late 80s/early 90s). The KR-1 got a KX500 engine to go racing (sadly never worked as well as it could have) and etc.
Some of the best memories (there’s going to be a bit of a shift in a bit) of my very very good friend Danny Lampett are of driving his Gran’s Toyota twin cam Liftback (aka the hellandback) through the local forest at night chasing him in his Land Rover and another friend in their Hi-Lux.
The Toyota had the best steering feel in probably any car and it would drift (speed not power) so so beautifully at not stupid speeds on the road.
I have countless memories of ridiculousness, falling off the boot of a mk2 escort on Weston beach when we went done for the beach race, going to Heston services and Chelsea bridge on the back of the KR-1 and him sparking the expansion chambers changing lanes, etc. it all seemed quite normal.
All now just very fond memories of a dear departed friend and some great teenage years.

Apologies for the indulgence.

The 996 Turbo isn't my favourite 911 but it's certainly one of my favourite memories – it was the first 'proper' car I drove north of 300bhp, and it certainly made an impression. I love other 911s rather more – while the in-gear thrust was amazing, when it came to the corners it was just too aloof.

However, the want is strong for this one, as it is in PTS Riviera Blue...

However, I think I'd enjoy owning and driving this far more. Great story behind it too – rare, and though I'd love an SZ, this is a third of the price and arguably more usable when wanting to get on it...

More E53 content…

4.4 V8, 72k miles, in what I would think would be a pretty unique colour combo… £6.5k.

Also has what seems like a cheap E39 wagon… such a good looking car.

I like both of those, can’t help thinking that X5 interior would be so much better with a dark exterior hue though.

I think that E39 is ex 1-5 thread and needs a gearbox.

tobinen's E39 has reappeared. No mention of gearbox issues, but apparently they may only really be noticeable at speed, so be warned.

It didn't take too long and it's a lot cleaner than when I had it smile

But, yes - LC52 UHA needs a TC or 'box (or something else of which I am unaware) if it still slips in top.

‘‘Twas mine before his. Seems to have constant niggles.

Edit: I thought I’d fixed them all before selling it, but some reappeared, and then he had a load of new ones too.
