It gets too deep, but it was always the poster car as a child, then the car I promised myself if I had the means, and I’ve not done it primarily to prevaricating too often - but then it will be a big deal to me.

I want to buy something to bond with, but as it’s only a toy it needs to have a balance of value and not a big loss if my house of cards were to fall.

It will either be a 997.1 C2S or C4S but MUST have had Hartech full build, or a .2.

BUT it could also be a 993 or a 997 turbo!

Purchase price is pretty open, and I don’t mind maintenance costs, but I want it to work, be ok not been used, but most importantly to stir the soul.

Given my daily is a Diesel T5.1 Transporter I think they will all feel special.

Has to be manual, I think my heart would like 993, right choice is probably 997.2, as .1 full rebuilds at the right price are few and far between.
I've recently come to the conclusion, 997.1 of around 50-60k miles in decent condition with full health check prior to purchase as a long term proposition. If engine goes bang or needs rebuild due to miles then off to hartech it goes. It won't lose any money, you'll get the car you want, it will eventually need a rebuild anyway so what difference does it make.

Look at the prices to rebuild an air cooled car. That'll make you think straight.

I had some serious thoughts about buying this

But out of your shortlist I think I'd be looking at a 993

Thanks all for the feedback and interest - I’ve been going on about this so long even I’m bored of me 😂

I need to be honest with myself, I need a 997 naturally aspirated, manual S car. Either a .1 with war chest or .2 with risk removed.

I’ve spent too long without anything of high value, so if I go too expensive I think I’d feel it was a waste sitting being used infrequently.

Yes Ben, weekends and a few road trips, track days here and there.

I’ll keep you all posted - my father is desperate for me to get something, would be cool to surprise him for Members Meet!

Lovely from the front and side but is it just me thinks the rear lights look like lego?

Perversely I think it's the front grille that they got wrong.

Yep, front end doesn't quite gel.

Still would though

911s still appeal - if ICE not outlawed and fund allow, I’d still really like one, maybe a 996. Only car though as no allocated parking. It could work once all passengers can get themselves in. I just don’t fancy trying a car seat in the current setup, let alone with fewer doors (plus I have to listen carefully to my timing gear rather than nursery rhymes according to the interweb hehe )

What would your view on that be, if Porsche replacement engine, was really Porsche were given the car and an engine from a 2007 car and asked to swap them over?

I was lining up to go and view it tomorrow - whilst it wouldn’t have been my colour of choice I could have lived with it, and a Porsche replaced engine 6 years ago would have seen me take the risk - but following the call it’s not for me.

Eh?

I read the advert that Porsche replaced the engine, is that not the case?

I liked the look of that.
I would assume the engine replacement would have been brand new.

Me too

If car on 64 and replaved at 45 then old engine lasted 19. That's my concern with these. 45 is arguably a good run and due for replacement again very soon.

I had one in 2005 and I loved it.

Have you driven one Fast .... Fast Bug - sorry couldn't help it?

Unfortunately not a new replacement - also not documented. The supplying seller 6 years ago (neither an OPC or one of the big known indies) had an accident damaged 2007 car, and the speed yellow car had a bore scored engine.

OPC were given both cars and they swapped the power plants over.

If any of you spot anything else, either Hartech swapped .1 or a sensibly priced .2 there’s virtual beers for a heads up!

Thanks all, I thought you’d found me the answer - so close!

I dont think these cars exist and if they do pop up there is a long queue of poeple looking for them.
