Lovely looking SV8 in these colours.

Ruined by the AI-generated bks of an ‘ad’…

I love the SV8.

So much more ‘Jaggy’ than the XFR.

Would really like one, but don’t need one.

Agreed with that. My favorite car to get the 5.0 supercharged engine is the XJ Supersport, because aside from some tiny wing badges it's indistinguishable from the 270bhp soot chucker.

That green one is a £4k private sale car though, and even then I don't think it'd sell quickly. A 125k mile XFR is £4k trade now, an SV8 would be £3k trade.

Arse is really out of the market for old smokers like this.

Took the E38 out today and ended up next to another V12...

The E38 is getting better looking by the day. There was a time when I much preferred the E32, but now I’m not so sure

E32 for me, was what I decided earlier when stood next to a mate’s 750i.

I’d love to restomod one. All it really needs is a more modern drivetrain and it’d be a car for everything.

You could get a 740i with the M60 V8, which is is reasonably modernish - 280bhp and 400NM - and the ZF5 is on just the right side of OK. The M60 is probably the least fault riddled V8 engine BMW ever made too (low bar) if you didn't put st fuel in it.

I had an E32 and think it was the last 7 series that had a strong USP, it was more like a German XJ40 than the Poundland S-Class it eventually went on to become, a process that I think started with the E38 and finished with the F01.

Apparently avocado bathroom suites are also back in fashion. That’s proper 70s.

I too would prefer an E32. Preferably with cloth seats, the straight six and a manual box. Or the Alpina B11 3.5. I'm properly weird like that; revving an enormous barge out is almost like naughty fun. The kind of thing that's frowned upon, but oh so good.

You know that at least in Germany, you could get the E32 with the M60B40 and a 6-spd box? Most came with LSD too... Silly money now, while 15yrs ago you could pick them up for buttons...

I had an e32 735iL with a manual box. Proper rare bit of kit, bought for pennies when you could do such things. Electric leather front and back, huge space, hoot to drive. Sold it to one of my doormen who ran it for years.

If he’d advertised it as soon as the Barbie movie came out he might have stood a chance…

I remember 10+ years ago this car seemed to take an age to sell for what I recall was £11k:

8-Series prices have been ascending rapidly, but I'm not sure about that rapidly. That's going to be a museum piece.

That and the Alpina are two stark reminders of just how far astray BMW's styling has gone.
