RE: 200mph, 545hp per tonne Ginetta unveiled
Discussion
Good morning Sir, how can I help you today?
I'm in the market for a car that looks like a Jaguar F-Type and an Ariel Atom were in a collision and someone that had never seen either tried to put them back together into one car. Oh, and it should cost no less than 390 000 actual pounds.
Ah-ha, I think I have just the thing sir might be interested in...

I've often wondered, when it comes to "challenging" car designs, whether the people launching it already knew it was a bit "alternative" or whether they are genuinely surprised by negative reaction.
Is it like "Gosh - I hadn't really thought of that before ?" or have they all been sitting in various design meetings, all holding doubts but no one has been willing to speak up and say "You know guys, I think we may have taken a bit of a wrong turn here..."
I suspect it's sometimes a lack of experience and/or experienced people. You often find that companies that have come from a racing background (i.e. managed by engineers) don't understand the importance of aesthetics over function. A good car design has to be a compromise between engineering and design and knowing how to balance this takes a lot of experience, and some strong leadership. I suspect it's why McLaren have a long standing struggle with aesthetics. They are too heavily biased towards engineering and as such things like the Senna exist. Some senior people will have sat in a meeting and said....yes we could have that looking a bit nicer but we'll lose 2% of the aero efficiency and that's unacceptable. The reality is of course no one that owns the car would ever notice the 2% difference to the aero, but they will notice the goping hole in the side of .Is it like "Gosh - I hadn't really thought of that before ?" or have they all been sitting in various design meetings, all holding doubts but no one has been willing to speak up and say "You know guys, I think we may have taken a bit of a wrong turn here..."

Looks like its been designed by two people one did the back end one the front the back ends winning .
Chrysler Crossfire meets Marcos Mantis M70 in an alley and they rip each other to bits. Fibreglass surgeons stitch the remains of both together?BS62 said:
I was thinking the result of putting a McMerc SLR and Panoz GT1 into a blender then pouring half the mix away.
I did initially think Panoz too, then that someone beat the combo heavily for an hour with a crowbar.Hey, what do we know. We (well I mean me) don't generally have the money to waste on a whim and thankfully this looks like it will be fast enough to escape the hoards of giggling kids after it's stopped at traffic lights.
As the 13th Duke of Wybourne might say:
"What were they thinking?"
I thought it looked EPIC when I first saw glimpses of the bonnet vents in previous images.
A bit busy now and nowhere near as good looking as their G55 or G40 (me being biased of course owning one!)
I was expecting it to be around the 90k/100k mark going by G55 prices as I had assumed they would be using that as a base (which to be fair I think there would be a good market for!)Saw this price of £400k and just thought WOW!

Whats with those ‘gills’ behind the front wheels? They spoil what is still a hideous looking car! I understand that some people what something different but....let’s face it, I don’t think Lamborghini or Ferrari will be quaking in their boots. However, I’m sure there are some uber rich folk who will want something that will be unique at Cars and Coffee Dubai or wherever they will take them and Ginetta DO have pedigree when it values to quick cars so I’m sure it’ll be no slouch on track!
