2018 was the first year I haven’t bought a car in as long as I can remember.

I’ve been waiting. Waiting for the new Ferrari V8. I’ve been told it’s going to be a game changer, it’ll have a hybrid Powertrain, all new design, ya da ya da. Dealers talk absolute ste. Sat on the cash for months now not buying anything waiting for something interesting and what do we get? A 488 facelift and still turbocharged. Slightly different bodywork, tarted up interior and more power, that we don’t need.

Ffs. If Ferrari can’t be arsed, neither can I. I’m actually annoyed. They’re gonna love me when I get on the stand at Geneva. ;-)

this, it looks alright but it's just not different enough to be interesting

seeing some mclaren influence in the styling

One of the details that I like the most is the return of the 4 separate rear light clusters, set into the rear with a lip spoiler above them. I never did like the design the rear cluster design that started on the 430 (and continued on the 458 and 488) where they sit right at the top of the rear quarter wings and have a side open to the top surface, I thought that was a bit ugly.

365 GT4 2+2, 400 and 412, differences were more subtle granted but 3 subsequent models on same basic structure, similar with the BB I guess but the differences are even more negligible

I think it's a better looking car than the 488.

Am I the only one who thinks these cars are just getting way too powerful? 720bhp in what is traditionally the baby Ferrari, 800 in the big GT. I can't help but feel they need a smaller mid mounted V6 car in the 400-500bhp range with a focus on much lighter curbweights.

I love the Alpine concept of light weight fun over power but I'd prefer something with the atmosphere (if that's the right term) of a Ferrari.

I prefer the 570s over the 720 for example but McLaren are just lacking a bit of soul that Ferrari's have always managed to pull off somehow.
Hopefully, that is where the Dino comes in.

....but 720hp is no longer too powerful. Small saloons have 500bhp, large saloons have 600bhp.

By numbers, you mean sales? How much could you charge for a 400bhp manual Ferrari that got it's arse kicked by a £35k hatchback?

Impressive they can get away with face lifting a car twice and calling it a new model!
I don't think they are trying to "get away" with anything.

Whats wrong with evolving existing designs something car makers have done for many years? Porsche for example?

The 458 to 488 was a big change due to the NA to Turbo engine.... Now they are bringing the latest design language to that new platform. I think it works really well.
...in fact, what car's evolution isn't dominated by such significant facelifts rather than full ground-up new models.

....and where does a facelift end and a new model start?

How come when McLaren bring out a new car they get slated for it looking the same as the previous model but when Ferrari bring out something that is based on a Ten year old design they get praised.

The design of this car is older than all of McLaren Automotive's cars.

Food for thought.

Why would it be frustrating to drive on the roads?
When you're in a car that could happily take on a string of corners in 3-digit speeds, it is not going to feel very "alive" at license-retaining speeds.
You've never driven a Ferrari then. The biggest win over their competitors is their ability to feel alive at any speed. Cuore Sportivo as their baby brother used to say.

It’s a bit strange.

There’s always one facelift and then a new model (348-355, 360-430, 458-458) so this should be completely new.
Perhaps Louis Camilleri didn't get your email about the rules for his business??
