Nah, sounds more like a middle-aged man whining on and on and on and on and on....

A final chapter in Ford’s terrible ownsership of JLR and Aston.
It looks like the equivilant of one of those 80{s murican estate cars with sticky back plastic wood trim.
That super’d V8 though.....

I don't like whining supercharger noises, if you do then fair enough ... each to their own eh ?
indeed, it'd be boring if we were all the same. I love s/c whine - one of the reasons I was only able to average 13mpg out of my old F150 Lightning hehe

Ferrari only claimed just over 180mph for the Modena, which has a much more slippery shape that bluff fronted Jaguar saloon.
My old 996 Turbo with 400ish bhp would happily cruise on the naughty side of 180mph all day. That said it would also happily disappear from my old XJR all day long too..

I couldn't stand the whining supercharger noise every time it accelerated.

Not a fan of the supercharger whine either. I had an R53 MCS and it’s the one thing about the car that I never warmed to.

Just exhaust and induction noises for me please, I can leave the whine.

I've had one for a while but sadly it fell into the hands of a mechanic who was a bit of a bodger and a crook. As a result I'm coming to the conclusion I might have to part ways with the car as I just can't spend the time unpicking the problems I've been left with. Really annoying as I had got the car into tip top nick before the butcher got hold of it.

What I can say is that prior to my problems it was a really nice car and I had no intention of selling. It's definitely one of those cars that will punish you for failing to maintain it properly but no-one should really be surprised by that. There are very few weak spots but anyone interested in these should be aware of the valley pipe issue (which also affects the XJR) and wear in the rear bushes. Later cars from 2004 are generally accepted to be better built. You can distinguish them by some different rear panels and interior but another way is that the later cars have cut outs in the alloy spokes whereas the spokes are solid on the earlier cars. The only really rusty ones that I have seen have been pre-facelift. Also bear in mind that some parts are very expensive and specific to the model a bit like the BMW M versions. Still, I think they were over £50K new so that shouldn't really surprise anyone either.

Surely not serious. Loads of great Astons and JLR products were produced under Ford.

I took the brave pill a few weeks ago on an ‘02 with 108k on it.

Averaged 28mpg on a 300mile round trip at the weekend.

Was cheap, so some preventative stuff going on currently (diff fluid, gearbox oil change, full service, see if it still has sills).

The fastest and best-sounding car i’ve had. My first V8.

No match for a nissan leaf tho’.
