RE: Mercedes-AMG drops top from 585hp GT R

I really like the overall shape of this, I think it works well as a rag top.
I know spoilers/wings are generally unfashionable in these parts, personally I like the visual drama that they can add. I do like cars that are clean and elegant looking, but I also like cars with agressive, racey styling as well. I'm certainly no expert on aero but the wing looks like it could well be functional.

Doesn't work for me and yet I am a huge fan of the AMG GT.
I actually think the car is a nice design, love the back on when it's spoiler-less as well. Overall the car has a good stance and isn't mega aggressive. Not until they start faffing with spoilers, diffusers etc.
The problem I'm seeing with this is that it falls into the same trap many convertibles do, it's just a hard top with the roof chopped off. In turn it doesn't look as good as the hard top. All my opinion of course but you take decent looking cars like the F-Type and 911 and they just don't look as good.
Also, does anyone else reckon that rear angle view with the roof off looks S2000-esque?

To the untrained eye it's no different to the next door neighbours £15 grand s/h Merc convertible, having ludicrous amounts of power is useless if you intend to use it most of the time on roads here in the UK especially here in the South East and lose loads of money on depreciation. AMG use to be a rare sight been done to death now.
To my eye it's far easier to tell this from an SLK than, for example, a 911 GT2 from a base spec Cayman!Gassing Station | General Gassing | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
