Convertibles never look right with wings.

Everyone looking at it with disgust need to keep in mind it's the same wing as the coupe GT-R...

Picture one, wow that looks absolutely magnificent, as in real Wow. I think maybe that's because the Max Power/Halfords on the cheap spoiler isn't as obvious.

I really like the overall shape of this, I think it works well as a rag top.

I know spoilers/wings are generally unfashionable in these parts, personally I like the visual drama that they can add. I do like cars that are clean and elegant looking, but I also like cars with agressive, racey styling as well. I'm certainly no expert on aero but the wing looks like it could well be functional.

I'd be curious how the aero works with the roof down. Wouldn't the air be much too disturbed by the surface changes due to no top to have a material positive effect once it hits the wing?

3/4 rear shot with that wing and roof up reminds me of a F&F S2000

That spoiler has, we'll, erm done a great job of spoiling it.

Some spoilers add drama (Lamborghini seems to have mastered the art of it) and Ferrari have enough drama in their designs to not need them but here?

No, just no.

Have to agree, that wing is truly awful.

Dear me, nobody is ever happy on PH anymore, are they?! Ha ha smile

Not normally a cabriolet fan, bu for me this looks great - each to their own!

I'll take on in black with the optional black pack, thanks! smile

Agreed. They have managed to turn a fairly handsome coupe into an object of vileness . For that money you could do so much better. In fact I'd rather have something that cost half as much (F Type R).

How plug-ugly & vulgar can Mercedes get. So VERY Germanic & arrogant.
At least the BMW Z4 / Mercedes SL offer a useful storage area behind the seats, without the vulgar looks & unnecessary willy-substitute ego-massaging power. One for the Mexican teen drug-dealer.

Doesn't work for me and yet I am a huge fan of the AMG GT.

I actually think the car is a nice design, love the back on when it's spoiler-less as well. Overall the car has a good stance and isn't mega aggressive. Not until they start faffing with spoilers, diffusers etc.

The problem I'm seeing with this is that it falls into the same trap many convertibles do, it's just a hard top with the roof chopped off. In turn it doesn't look as good as the hard top. All my opinion of course but you take decent looking cars like the F-Type and 911 and they just don't look as good.

Also, does anyone else reckon that rear angle view with the roof off looks S2000-esque?

To the untrained eye it's no different to the next door neighbours £15 grand s/h Merc convertible, having ludicrous amounts of power is useless if you intend to use it most of the time on roads here in the UK especially here in the South East and lose loads of money on depreciation. AMG use to be a rare sight been done to death now.
To my eye it's far easier to tell this from an SLK than, for example, a 911 GT2 from a base spec Cayman!
Your on a motoring forum, the majority of the population aren't, it doesn't have the same kudos as a Ferrari and to most people it's just another Merc convertible.
