Sorry two pages and nobody has called them out on this:
“Europe's best car - and beats out the Alpine A110 in the process”

What the juddering fk is that? I don’t mind the i pace winning but an English (I know it is now owned by Merrycans) website using such piss poor English is an absolute disgrace.
Suggests an a110 was wked off by an ipace...

Well done JLR.

My eldest son went on a launch event and was sorely tempted to buy one. But the range (at c200+ miles) was too limited for his needs, making it impractical. He has bought another Range Rover Sport instead. This time it is the hybrid version to replace his 5 year V6 which has given him very good service.

It'll be great once they fit with a fuel cell engine so you can refuel as fast as an ICE vehicle

Nope. Fuel cells aren’t ever going to happen. Whilst it’s excellent tech, it’ll always be far too expensive and complicated compared to battery EV’s. Also hydrogen is very energy intensive to produce (which is against the whole point!) and also difficult to handle, especially in a consumer grade environment. You may as well just have hydrogen powered ICE cars as the emissions wouid be the same, and such a thing has never caught for good reason.

Yes! Shame the I-Pace has been hit far too many times with the ugly stick.

I think the only thing ‘limiting’ them to 124mph is the laws of physics ..

Good to see Jaguar win. This car certainly doesn’t deliver on the grace part of the famous slogan though!
Why not? It’s a very graceful modern design, unlikely, say, the Civic Type-R which is modern but far from graceful.

And don't get me started about the notion that the electricity to power electric cars

I don’t think anyone with half a brain thinks there are no emissions.

However, do you not realise that electrical energy is produced far more cleanly and efficiently than burning fuel in an automotive ICE?

And if you can source that power from renewables such as wind, hydro, etc, then there are truly no ongoing emissions.

All my power is from hydro, and its not that hard to install solar in most places to generate what you use (if not at the same time) or choose to buy power from a 100% renewable supply company.

Yep, solar and powerwall. Job almost done.

I use bulb for my energy supply so is a reasonable choice but sadly they're not 100%.

Only problem at the moment for me is cost.

Well deserved, it's a great car.

It drives like a sport sedan, has awesome acceleration, regenerative braking is a blast, gorgeous interior, 2 year service intervals, great looks, excellent build quality, British design and heritage, never buy gas again!

What's not to like?

I liked it a lot but the boot opening is something not to like.

If Jaguar want to get themselves out of trouble they need to go back to building things like the Mk2, imagine that but with modern features like a DAB radio, hopefully they'll do an estate version with the V8 or even better, the Merlin engine. Until they do this Jag won't get another penny from me etc.....

It's a superb car and deserves every bit of recognition it's receiving

3 points: Yet Another Overweight, Bloated SUV that doesn't deserve to wear the Jaguar name and is a further nail in the coffin of the brand. Instead Jaguar should be re-issuing and redesigning the Mk 2, complete with sheepskin carpets, walnut dash board and 4 club chairs, and it should be fuelled exclusively by coal.

3 Points: I'm a busy Company Director who commutes from Ullapool to St Ives everyday and therefore I - and by extension everyone else - need a car with a range that allows me to get there and back without filling up. Preferably twice.

3 Points: I can't see why anyone would buy this on PCP when they could drive an old Diesel Mercedes/Volvo E-Class estate - they're basically the same car.

5 Points: Someone in the Village knows the bloke, who knows the bloke who makes the tea for the boss at JLR and he reckons they aren't that good; if he doesn't have confidence in it, why should you?

5Points: People massively missing the point of Electric SUV's - they're designed to be driven around locally and complete 80% of the jobs that a Discovery/X5/Q5/Q7/Range Rover Sport does. But at significantly reduced cost. And when you go for a longer journey, you might have a second car.

5 Points: I live in a Preservation Area in a Major City and have no possible means to charge my car. I'll Never Buy This Car - and can't understand the people who do, but I think they might read The Guardian and live on one of those So-Called Executive Houses that are build on the edge of The Preservation Area.

Not sure where all this JLR reliability and dealer bashing comes from. Not my experience at all.
I may have been lucky but mrs B has put over 60k miles on her Freelander and it’s been completely trouble free (her idea of servicing and maintenance only involves giving it a name and talking to it nicely) and I put over 90k miles on my XF in 2 years and almost as trouble free. It developed an intermittent gearbox fault but my local Jag dealer was excellent and supplied me with a very nice courtesy car while they dealt with the problem. All sorted no questions asked.
Anyway, the new I-Pace looks excellent and well done on winning the award. Hopefully a positive step forward for the company.

Is that so? Would you care to elaborate and share some of the facts you supposedly have to the contrary?
