The V6 Hybrid NSX is amazing and the long rumoured Dino is expected to have a similar setup and go up against the 570s which could present a problem for Aston if there's is seen to have a similar power-train to cars 100k cheaper.

I see what Aston is trying to do with the different design language for the mid-engined sports cars vs. the front-engined GTs. Even though I may not necessarily like it.

However I don't understand the positioning of the 3 mid-engined cars presented so far.

Valkyrie/AMR Pro is meant to be the apex predator.
This is meant to be a F8/720S/Huracan competitor.

So what is the RB003 thing supposed to compete against?

Is there really room for all these sub-niches in sports cars/GTs?

The AM-RB 003 is aimed squarely at competing with the Senna - that bubble of "which £800k-£1m track focused toy do I want". Whether it needs to exist, I have no idea, but there's a gulf between the Valkyrie and Vanquish, which the 003 fills, albeit not bang dead centre in price point.

This.

RB 003 is in the P1 / La Ferrari area as far as performance / exclusivity.

Valkryie is on a whole different level and seems more of a technical showcase that's being sold as a by-product. Right?

Vanquish concept looks to be the most stunning of the lot. That car has given me a whole lot of desire to work my arse off today!

To me, that is THE most beautiful mid-engined car... no... any format car... if have ever had the pleasure of seeing since the early noughties Vantage was revealed.

Lucky, as I didn’t really know 100% what to replace my Vantage with. I’m now saving! Bring on 2021 biggrin

Lots of cheaper cars will still go faster round a track

Others will cross a continent in more comfort

When you now have a market with over 20+ options/manufactures to choose from to help find your ultimate hyper car, I cannot even begin to narrow down a lottery win shortlist,

Someone is going to struggle soon, and I hope it's not Aston.

The rear is very Mclarenesque. But overall looks less fussy than a 720S.

This space is getting very busy. There are 48 720Ss for sale on Autotrader at the moment. That strikes me as rather a lot! Am assuming this Aston will be a price point above the Mclaren and F8, but even so it's a bold move. Aston's equity remains under pressure and I can't see that changing given the development costs of these cars. Great in terms of choice but the shareholders may continue to be disappointed, especially if the global economy falters further.
your a glass half empty chap aren't you
I'm glad there is the choice, and clearly the market at this end has grown in the last couple of decades. But I've been around long enough to have seen AM struggle in a number of guises. This is a company that on the face of it looks healthy until you realise they capitalise their R&D. This flatters their profits but not their cash flow. The UK is only one market, but the glut of 720s tells its own story. I hope I'm wrong and I hope AMs investment pays off. In reality the Lagonda SUV will probably pay a rather more important part in determining that than this car. If like Porsche their SUV sales keep their sports car business alive then my caution will be misplaced. But again that market is much more competitive than it was when Porsche set out with the Cayenne. Time will tell, and I wish them luck. To have two British sports car manufacturers competing with the very best is great to see. That I can only applaud.

I fear not indeed, but a boy can only hope right. Thanks for sharing moving imagery by the way. Not a fan of the channel, but that does not matter in this instance.

Yes Mr JWW, like all YouTubers, is an acquired taste but he does some good stuff IMO. Had the Carfection video been released first, I would've posted that. Henry Catchpole just gets it right.
