To me it looks like the whole brake assembly has been nicked also.

That’s quite gutsy doing that on the forecourt.

CCTV everywhere surely!?

Ffs

Even the most 'skilled ' thieving would take a while to get all that out.

What kind if society do we live in, where that can happen. Saddens me. Hope the perpetrators get caught but I doubt it....

I'm always appalled and deeply impressed by these types of activities at the same time.

Unless they're ripping the bodykit off, with a view to repairing all of the mountings when they bodge it onto their 1.6 diesel, this stripping would have taken quite some time.

Even tooled up with quicklift jacks and battery guns, it takes some bks (aka disregard for slap-on-wrist feeble consequences) to carry out this kind of strip ........ for what must result in little relative return financially.

Risk vs Reward ratio is all the wrong way around

I think they'd get that done quicker than you think. Used to live in London (NW3) in the mid 90's I had a 328i Sport. Found that on bricks. I then got myself a lock up garage and then decided I'd get an E36 M3 Evo Cab....about six months later the garage got broken in to and the spoiler, skirts and wing mirrors got nicked. So that went ! Went to the local VW dealer to buy a GTi....none on the forecourt and asked why. "We keep them all inside sir as parts get stolen from them". So I bought an Audi A3 as scrotes didn't steal parts off them!

All those parts they've stolen would fetch decent money....airbag steering wheels are worth a lot because of the airbag!

Much safer crime and easier as the parts don't have trackers or immobilisers and you can store a lot of parts in a small space....and I doubt the police will follow up even if they're listed on eBay. Probably net them £2k to £3k if they take their time selling them.

I gave up having nice cars living in London. Moved out in 2015 and so glad I did!

I used to work in a car dealership, I remember one day a couple of uhh scumbags came in to price up an abs control unit, which was something like £800..., enquired as to where it was located on the car as they will fit it themselves and tow in for coding... "oh its behind the front wing"...
Next morning a brand new version of their car was sat with its bonnet grille and front wing butchered and missing 1 abs unit

When I used to inspect for a bodyshop I got called to a Citroën Xantia that had its front bumper and headlights stolen while on the customers driveway .
Even 15 years ago this went on . The car was written off .

Even easier now with some parts catalogues being online and even some of the technical internal manuals being freely available online...

Oh and a colleague at work has recently had an R delivered I told him to beef security up because they do seem to attract thieves...has he taken notice? Nope not that I am aware of...

Don't they have security?

That's what penny pinching does.

A large dealer with the risk you'd think they'd pay for night time security.

Even a large empty Honda main dealer has a security guard in it near me.

I suspect there is, but to what degree is questionable.

I am surprised if this is a brand new car as has been highlighted that it was sat in such an exposed area.

I cannot believe someone would go to all that trouble to take the brakes.... they are probably worth about 500quid tops front and back

Err, look at the photo carefully, it's in the customer parking zone, and no price boards anywhere.
It's a service customers car at a guess.

Don't think I'd ever buy a R even if it was half the price of a GTI sadly

I had a Sierra Sapphire that had its front discs and callipers knicked from a few years back. I just had to laugh and so did the copper that came out to look.

Ford STs get done fairly regularly, at dealers here in Wales and the thieves don't care what damage they do, cutting wings and removing everything they can. A lot of dealerships are on industrial estates and CCTV doesn't help when they're balaclavad up.

Some are not so clever and leave fingerprints or tools or DNA behind but it remains lucrative.

Why just not take the whole car? Surely it would take far less time to bypass security systems on the car than to piss about doing a wheel ,brake and body kit removal with greater risk of being seen.
