Because they are chavmobiles and chavs like to buy stolen stuff.
They are the modern day Sierra Cosworth and like the Audi S3 and other RS models even the poorest of drivers can point them in a direction and outrun most things.

Parts won't even be sold off cheap, they'll go for 80-90% of the retail value of legitimate parts just to get a quick sale.

The steering wheel alone will be £400.

Seems to be getting more common, fairly low risk/high reward for them I guess. A mate at a dealership recently had 3 cars done overnight recently

I live on a fairly typical 15 year old housing estate. The only house with a R/S/RS type car is also the only one to fit gates in front of the drive.

If this is a customer car then is it their insurance that picks up the tab or the dealership as the car was in their care? PS sack owning an R.
Customers insurance.

Front bumper off the GTI / GTD looks far better than the R anyway.

Best way to own an R, debadge it, fit the better looking GTI wheels and front bumper, do away with 2 unnecessary exhaust pipes? Better looking car, less likely to get nicked laugh

Is that always the case when you hand over keys to a dealer?

Hyundai i30N is looking like a better purchase over a cooking VW or Audi with each passing week.

Same happened at my sisters VW Dealership in December last year with a 68 Plate VW UP GTI

Attached.

They actually broke the rear window, got into the boot to get the jack etc.

Alarm was sill on and not triggered...
FWIW they don’t have an alarm. The flashing red light on the drivers door just indicates the doors are locked.

Sad to see this going on! I recall certain cars used to have parts nicked due to them being easily removed.
Can't help but think this boom in Vw Golf R theft and such like is only going to push insurance premiums through the roof!

No police within 30mins?

Sorry the Police rely on some sort of bloody alert. If the dealer won't help themselves and have security how else would the police know unless someone happened to walk past and ring it in?

Every day on Facebook I read of people complaining about the Police when thousands of pounds gets stolen from their old garage.

People need to help themselves first
Wasnt a dig at BIB, just common knowledge that the thin blue line is virtually invisible, and the vermin know it......

I don't think people quite understand how thin it actually is at the moment, really quite scary

I know of a company who’s vans (crafters and sprinters) were towed away one by one on a night over last Christmas break from their yard despite extensive CCTV. Alarms were disabled quickly after the quarter lights were hole sawn out. All were found the next day round the corner with the front end basically stripped. Engines and gearboxes had been removed, in the open on an industrial estate, not even inside though dark. Approx 5-6 vans I think, one after the other. Nothing in the vans was touched/stolen.

Testament on how good smart phone navigation is nowadays that they left the ICE unit in? Or too risky because that comes with a unique serial number? As to why it's always the Golf R... Bit of a downside with the MQB construction kit. Top of the range car has expensive goodies in high demand with 'scene' customers.

I've always been amazed by the fact they steal the parts like this.

Many moons ago I was at the hire place to pick up a van and the hire bloke directed the police to the office to wait for the boss. Asked him what was going on and someone had stollen the engine from a brand new Ford Transit. It was at a main dealer and one of the mechanics noticed the front was sitting too high, that was the only sign they had even been there.

I know for a fact that my town with a couple of hundred thousand people can have (and has done) less than half a dozen coppers on duty at any one time.

In general, anything to do with Transits is linked to a certain fraternity but generalisations are not permitted.
