Not one mention about how it rides. Odd, considering the sub-title.
Sublimely on motorways with a decent surface, it really is relaxing.

Well on B roads in sport or comfort, not at all harsh.

Can be hard on crappy A roads though.

Good through town, not at all jiggly or bouncy (secondary ride as my old man would say).

My wife hates being driven in it though.

Anyway, enough facts, back to the arguing over whether driven by tossers, whether paid for by PCP is a crime, why it’s not worth the money and why an M3/4/RS5/Lexus paid for cash in hand (surely sign of a drug dealer?) is better.

Oh, and I think I’ve seen 2 in the UK in the last 6 months, but perhaps I don’t live in a drug dealing area.

Where do you live that the drug dealers are driving C63S'? Where I'm currently living (Stratford, London) the (largely Asian, and I'm Asian so I can say that) drug dealers drive RR Wraiths with blacked-out windows! :P

I do love the new Panamerica grille making its way down to non-GTR Mercedes, though I do wonder if it devalues that look a bit to have it on a 'lowly' C63.

oh, and I hate the polished/silver lip on all of Mercedes black wheels. BMW does it much better where the whole wheel is entirely black
It doesn’t matter whether your Asian or not, you just can’t say that!

You must call it the ‘Mercedes Sport Grill’. Porsche had a hissy about the word Panamerica.

18” are very forgiving - 19/20” are where it gets inferior.

Conversely the small wheels look so puny and a gulf between tyre and arch is immense.

What car car could you buy used at £80k say a year or two old then rub it for a year or two yourself until OEM warranty expires? Would that be a cheaper all up and maybe a more special opportunity?

No idea, I do 30k a year so whatever I buy costs money, I didn't mind running 911/M3/M5 when they were sensible money but the market has run away from my wallet to another level.

To be honest it doesn’t need to be 80k IMO, I just had a look on the configurator and a non S C63 Saloon is 66 grand and it basically comes with everything you need standard, especially the facelifts with the updated infotainment and digital dash. The premium plus is 3 grand more which bumps it up to 69 which still isn’t that bad compared to the 79/80+ (if you go mental on carbon fibre, wheels and magno paint).

I say a standard non S will be fine as there’s one in my village that I’ve driven and considered buying (thread about it) and I didn’t for once wonder or think what an S version would be like, it sounded amazing and was very very fast. I’d even prefer one on smaller wheels as the one I drive had the optional 20’s and they were a disaster in the sportiest setting.

The only thing that bothered me is being unable to spec the upgraded sound system by itself without paying for the premium plus package.

Your spit on - but then we all have desires and for me knowing a better version of the car I have exists would annoy me.
To the extent I’ve always bought older to ensure I’ve the top model of whatever car I’m buying & accept more miles more owners as part of the deal

Plus it’s Ph so POWEeeeeR is the call to arms.

Mine’s on 19/20s.

I have the non ‘s’ - but to all intents and purposes when would you be able to spot the difference in 99.9% of driving? Same engine, just different maps.

Also the same engine (gearbox, diff?) as the V8 Vantage...so I kind of look at it as a 4 seat Vantage, but a lot cheaper and without the Austin Allegro steering wheel...

Mine has the Burmeister - I’m not blown away by it, and I’m no audiophile, but it sounds quite ‘flat’. But you do need the Prem Plus pack, not least for the sunroof and nicer interior trim. Plus night package as I don’t think these suit the chromed look.

It’s a bit of a bargain really for what it is - you’d never pay list.

Bigger problem is suggesting what other car options there are to buy then ?! There is nothing else with 4 seats that can go quickly and handle and make a good noise

I just go off what I see - for the same reason Sierra Cosworths, Imprezas and XR3s all got tarnished. They might be great cars but if they're driven by a large number of utter tts (not in every case obviously), I wouldn't want one. Same goes for wearing certain types of clothes, playing music out loud on a mobile phone in public and saying 'innit' at the end of every sentence.

For me the Alfa quad runs it close and actually bests the C63 in some areas but nothing beats that V8 for me.

Agree and fits my point of view so I went the way - went non-S - specced with Premium package to get panoramic roof and Burmester and a few other extras, and shod with 19"s front and back. Listed at £66k new build but brought down to £59k with 13% discount.

Considered the S but for the extra cost I couldn't justify it. Extra ~35bhp, top speed limiter moved from 155mph to 176mph, 19" rims as standard, slightly different seats, a couple of carbon bits here and there.

Oh, and as an aside; I wear jeans and sweaters not trackies or hoodies, I listen to jazz, I've never dealt drugs, I live in pleasant leafy suburbia, I go for walks in the country, I like wine and occasionally sip brandy. Just to buck this seeming trend I'm reading about with C63 coupé drivers.

...and better steering/feel than an M3/M4.

They are (well, £75k according to the Merc website), but at 500bhp and a high-spec, and in the modern world, and after discounts.... That could be seen as a performance bargain. Porsche want £6-figures for that.

The noise was the one thing that nearly tipped the balance to the AMG for me.

....but then during the weekend I had the C63s, I took the QV round the block - the Alfa is in a different league to drive.

As others have said, I'd take the Alfa if I was looking at that size of car. I'm not sure how useable the four seats are in that class though, particularly in the coupe. Next size up has some really nice options...M5, RS6, E63 etc (although again, every time I see an E63, it's blinged up and being driven pretty stupidly).

I’ve got an E63.

It’s grey and an estate car.

It’s quite hard to make something like that look “blinged up”

Can't comment on the coupe, but all of them have reasonable enough space in the rear, I've had 4 adults in without any issues.
