That 0.7 seconds would be useful on the morning milk run.

Lol it’s only a stat which Autocar - old PistonHeads owner used.

It’s a bit like saying the S is really useful on the morning milk run over the std C63.

The GS300h is quiet, smooth and technologically interesting. A 520d is an unreliable and unrefined eurobox devoid of interest or character inside or out. Unlike a GS.
I am no fan of the 2 litre engine in the 5 Series but this is just completely untrue. The 5 Series drives better, is better inside and is simply a better car than the Lexus. The engine is the weak point, but not by enough to override the rest of the benefits.

As for unrefined, you must be joking?

The Lexus may be a good car but cannot be compared to a 5 series, apples and oranges, one is a underpowered 2.5 CVT with less torque than an electric toothbrush and has its engine scream if you want to overtake someone on the motorway and the other is a car with a proper gearbox and engine.

My mum has a RAV4 Hybrid with the same engine as the 300h badged lexus’s and while it is an 8 second car on paper with 200bhp, it comes at a cost of sponge like throttle pedal, a weird feeling brake pedal and very loud noise coming out the engine when making reasonable progress.

I’m a big fan of Japanese cars in general and I admire their reliability but I’m a petrol head and I want to enjoy driving. There’s a reason most Lexuses are driven by pensioners, they want something quiet, comfortable and reliable, I want something fun and I’d rather worry about the engine management light and EGR valves than drive a 5 series sized Lexus with 140 lbft and a CVT gearbox!

I get that motoring mags and journalists have to do some sort of comparison and yes, the M3/4 is a close competitor to the C63. But I also have to say that this pursuit for the ultimate laptime is odd.

If you want to lap a circuit the fastest, we have a wealth of options. But a 4 door saloon probably isn’t the best starting point. And really, how many people will get close to these times in their own $90k car (that was the list price of mine). Some people will, and that’s fine. But for the average owner, they aren’t going to risk it or have the ability!

I know it’s about bragging rights and feeling that you have the best. But the C63 really is the better all-rounder. It isn’t the razor sharp focused track beast like the M3/4. But it’s damn good fun, a right giggle and proper fast. And it won’t rattle your teeth out and can quite comfortably be a daily driver. Something that I know the M3/4 can sometimes struggle with.

However at the end of the day, both cars are very good and it’s testament to how far they have all come to be at this point. Really, cars you can use for the daily commute but have 440 to 500 BHP and they won’t blow up! Impressive stuff!!!

Amazing how much its moved on from the w204 car, i still love my 204 though as it somehow looks a lot more muscular even though i bet this engine would give my 515 brake car a pelting with all that torque. Maybe its my next car smile.

No it’s appalling car - lots of NVH. The Lexus Is far better inside and out. The 5 series is plagued with lousy rattles and poor trim. Not the Lexus and the Lexus is and engaging steer.

My F10 535 which has just past 108,000 doesnt have any of the rattles you mention and rattling trim would drive me insane.

Unfortunately people can't help themselves and react to the troll that is st4, when it's best to ignore them and then hopefully they go away and take their stbox Lexus with them....hehe

So having a preference for a car and discussing that on a forum is trolling.

Ok then.

This is a thread specifically about the newly launched C63 S - not Lexus.

Worth starting one about that or one which is a VS thread else it’s going to go off topic.

The RCF is a natural competitor to the C63 coupe and with its naturally aspirated engine a worthwhile thing to talk about in relation to it - particularly as more and more cars moved to forced induction.

Surely the M4 competition is its direct rival along with the RS5
