The idea that people don’t drive particular cars as it may tarnish their reputation. Especially cars driven between Hammersmith and Slough. rofl

I'd really like the trend of naked carbon in car interiors to die.

Carbon. Fibre. Looks. Awful.

I just go off what I see - for the same reason Sierra Cosworths, Imprezas and XR3s all got tarnished. They might be great cars but if they're driven by a large number of utter tts (not in every case obviously), I wouldn't want one. Same goes for wearing certain types of clothes, playing music out loud on a mobile phone in public and saying 'innit' at the end of every sentence.

I spotted some chap in an M4 trying to do a doughnut in Battersea Park carpark last week.....and a fairly regular sight is a C63 charging between the speed bumps nearby. Not sure it would put me off buying one if I wanted one, but I'm sympathetic to the view these cars do seem to attract a certain type of person, recognising I'm not talking about a huge sample size!

As long as they are not targets for being stolen (Audi RS3/S3/Golf R) and a high emails I frankly couldn’t care less what other owners do or do not do in their own cars.

At the moment I’m seeing Discovery 4’s being driven like cocksockets on my daily commute always hugely over 30mph limits.

Yes, I take offence at the wheels as well. Lots of R172 SLK55 have them specced and they don’t look any better in the metal.

One of these (C63 Coupes) rumbled past the other day and I didn’t expect it to sound *that* good. Properly thunderous.
+1

Saw (well, heard first) one in Bath t'other day. The guy wasn't going out of his way to make a noise, he was just burbling along. Sounded epic. Even when he pulled away it just sounded awesome.

I think you can say that about most lairy cars though to be honest. It's probably fair to say that driving around a car like this the default opinion is going to be that you're a speed demon, and that you're "really into cars" (like that's a bad thing, but for some people it is conflated with having an ego, being an inconsiderate driver, etc) so I don't think the Sloane street brigade is going to affect that much.

Looks epic, sounds epic and no doubt goes like stink, but like any car you'd have to accept that you are going to have to work against the image (or lean into it if that's your thing) more so with this than others.

This is compounded by the fact that the cars have quite noticeable looks and are also pretty loud, so they do stick out. The cheap deals haven’t done the images of these brands any favours I’m afraid, no matter how good the products.

There are plenty of used current shape saloons for low £30ks and coupes for low £40ks. With finance the way it is, the payments won’t be that high.

As to the car, standard AMG chavvery on offer these days. You'd have to be a certain type of person to feel comfortable beeing seen in one. As a Merc guy, I would prefer an M4 or even an RS5 over this.
Ironically, being a (then) BMW guy, I drove this (saloon), the M3, the Ghibli S, The Lexus thing and the Alfa QV, each for back-to-back weekends.

The Merc was the real surprise. It out M3'd the M3, looked better, sounded better and drove a lot better. It's a fantastic car. It was also, IMO, about the least 'shouty' car of them all, as aside from perhaps the Ghibli, it's looks are only subtly different from the non-cooking variants.

The M4's interior is like being stuck in a time warp and I'm a big M4 fan, but Bmw interiors never fail to disappoint for me.
Off topic, but go and have a look at the new 3, new Z4, new X5 and new 8. The interiors have just leapt forward three or four models. Even a base 320d suddenly has a class leading dash.

I looked in summer 2017. At the time the C63s with Premium Pack was about £5k more than a similarly spec'd M3 CP, but lease figures whereof anything slightly better.

I do like the look of the new 3 both inside and out from what I've seen in magazines. I am due a nice browse around a BMW showroom, and I always enjoyed doing that when the BMW's I've had previously have been in for a service. I don't get the same buzz in Mercedes showrooms as I used to with BMW for some reason.

Well, you can. Judging by the comments that w205 saloons are in the low £30k’s.

Not one mention about how it rides. Odd, considering the sub-title.
