School run mumsnetters?Massively over capable for its intended audience because they're wedded to their own view of their brand . So day to day it will be thirstier than it needs to be. Derivative reskin of a ground breaking design so why change. The love child of a gen 1 Evoque and a Velar . No doubt in car tech will be flakey but now apple carplay replaceable. Bought in gimicky clearsight tech. Ingenium diesel failure rate massive with oil dilution and bearing failure . Petrols may be ok. Let's see how the warranty rate holds up. JLR's problem is not design it is product engineering integrity and inherent quality of components whether leather seats or engine cal.
That and a company without the balance sheet to stand behind issues so it would rather deny than fix.

But better made, and in the case of a low spec rx vs a high spec evoque not that different price wise for an altogether superior car.
Superior in your opinion though. That's the thing. If you were correct, no other cars would exist or be sold. Some people won't want to drive around in something that looks dreadful and a total styling mishmash. No matter how good it may be.
And I suspect the Evoque is probably better off road too, despite not having a proper low range.
I wonder if they will update the convertible as well. I bought one for my wife (well we all say that don't we ) last year and it has actually grown on me. With the 240bhp diesel its quite torquey and the handling isn't bad. I heard that JLR would not be making it anymore and wondered if anyone had heard different.

I need to wait a few years, but looking forward to these dropping to my price range. I think they will make a wonderful green lanes vehicle and for use across the fields.Edited by 300bhp/ton on Thursday 14th March 14:43

The new one is four door only so no convertible model available.300bhp/ton said:

Precisely none of these will venture off road. The abilities of the rx450h and nx300h are more than sufficient for clearing the speed bumps in new build estates - which is as close to off roading as one of these will get. Some people won't want to drive around in something that looks dreadful and a total styling mishmash. This looks awkward, the rx and nx less so - imho. The rx sits at least one class above. It’s in every sense a superior car.

Fingers crossed JLR have a hit on their hands.
The few times I sat in a first gen Evoque it always felt impossibly small relative to its dimensions.
It is a small car & easy to park in town / supermarket - nothing like the size of RRS or FFRR which dwarf itThe few times I sat in a first gen Evoque it always felt impossibly small relative to its dimensions.
Inside it is not massive but neither is it outside too
Comparison with the Macan - I would rather the Evoque, the brand is more understated IMO
Porsche do some much nicer engines in the Macan but this is our family car so don't care about performance
