And how would they prove that I don't live there?
I presume you are trolling, because nobody could actually be that stupid.

But just in case...I don't know, erm, ask the neighbours? Look at the gas bill? What about the electoral roll or council tax register?

It's not exactly hard.
All the lowlifes that claimed they were living in Grenfell Tower got away with it for long enough, the council were giving out unlimited credit cards like they were confetti to anyone who put a claim in.

Are there other countries were car insurance is not mandatory. How does that work?

I tried having a sensible discussion with an old man about why it is such a big deal to not have car insurance, he was quite the bigot.
He had said about a neighbour of his who had a tree fall down and wreck a garden shed, if somebody had been in the shed they would have been dead for certain. The police did not turn up and check his house insurance.

PH is a site for car enthusiasts. It's not a representative sample.

Indeed. This probably why you post very little about cars and don't list a garage eh?

Given that our Government is supposed to reflective of society, and PH is a small sample of that very same society, it's little wonder that Brexit is such a mess. There are some truly cretinous, disingenuous and downright moronic posters on this thread.

Ah the PH insurance union rep.
I’m sure you can explain the discrepancies I posted, but maybe not.
I'm sure you can answer my point where I set your post against the post of Ashtray83, but maybe not.

I’m sure I could, but arguing pointless things with old farts on the Internet isn’t my priority today smile

Everyone's favourite insurance industry marketing junior vice president of green toner in the north east Norfolk area is trying to tell us insurance is cheap in the UK when it really isn't.

I'm honestly surprised you haven't screeched "STATISTICS" yet like someone who cant provide any real datasets and thinks bad news reports are statistics.
Where in the Western world is insurance cheaper?

Australia, New Zealand, the US and Canada.

In fact only a few countries are more expensive than the UK. Only those who've never travelled outside the UK think it's cheap here.

100% this.

The UK isn't known as the "golden isle" for nothing.

It’s ok, if we move to Norfolk we’ll get a cracking deal.

Fair enough if you think that, i've done far more devious things which I won't bore you about. I don't feel the need to lie about myself to seem interesting, trolling or whatever. Some people have balls, some don't.

But back to the topic, i've been involved in a crash or two before, not once has an insurance company asked for proof of address, or doubted me as to where I live. It simply doesn't happen. The only way I could see them checking is if they actually suspected something wrong. And no, I don't believe I would ever trip up on that. FYI i've been called a lot of things in my life, an idiot is not one of those.
Irony of it is that this insurance fraudster has posted on this site asking for help with a breach of contract issue.

Can either of you cite some examples of the prices you were paying? The US was more expensive last time I checked.

I pay about £300 in the south east. I don't remember that last time I paid more than £300-350. For long while it was £250.

My friends in Germany pay around €1300 for what I pay £300 for. And they live in a small town and i live in London suburbs. They do however get any driver (that they don't want or need) whereas mine is just me and the wife (which is all I want and need).

They think German insurance is a rip off and wish the had the much fairer UK system.

I pay about £300 for an Mx5 , the other half pays about £250 for her Focus, yet only £300 for 3.5t horsebox with any driver over 25 cover.

(Both in our 40s, Essex)

Evidence of anywhere outside of inane conspiracy ramblings where the UK is known as the 'golden isle', please.

Well, the US is more expensive. I know as I live here.

NZ is more expensive according to some family who moved there.

Granted, I don’t know about the other two.
