I've put 100k on a 63 plate 328i and had no problems.

I think the interior is fine to, though starting to show it's age against the c class and A4 but then that's why the brought out the new model.

When you stick it in sports, it handles really nicely, reminding me of my E39 M5...

They're good cars. Best of that generation.

I've been driving a G20 320d xDrive for a couple of hundred miles over the last week or so - handles very nicely, just enough power for every day driving and the looks are far better in real life.

New model is quiet & refined and the interior is a big step up from the F30 and feels better put together than our household Audi A4 B9

Dial layout takes a little getting used to, but there's not much in it between the Audi Virtual Cockpit and this for usability. BMW iDrive 7 interface is super easy to use and the Connected features are better than in the Audi - tried it in the latest X5 recently and picked up the basics pretty quickly.

As well as normal key, a RFID keycard can be used to open and start car, and the ability to use a compatible smartphone as a key is a neat trick

How much of that is standard, though?

My wife currently has a 2018 320d for commuting, thanks to a stupidly cheap PCP deal (over £10k discount on the RRP) that means it cost less than a mid-spec diesel Focus. There's no way we'd pay anything like the RRP (£35k+) on a 2.0-litre 4-pot. laugh

I'm another one that struggles to warm to the new speedo and I think it does look pony. The speedo just shows that BMW seem happy to always fall behind Audi/Mercedes in some way interior wise! hehe

SE and Sport models don't come with the digital cockpit and have a smaller 8.8" screen. M Sport gets the virtual cockpit and larger infotainment

I suspect with 190 bhp and fat rubber, traction off the line is less of a limiting factor for the 0-62 time in the 2WD one than the extra weight and drag of the AWD system is in the AWD version once it's rolling. I reckon you'll need the 330/340 versions before you see the AWD variant gain an advantage in 0-62 times.
.. or trying to set a 0-62 time in the wet - the 4WD should be comfortably ahead of the 2WD in this scenario.

As mentioned up thread, I think company car tax is really starting to bite so you'll see less boggo ones on the road -

WTLP emission testing has increased the CO2 reporting, the list price has gone up and the BIK percentage keeps rising.

The BIK on a new 320d SE manual is 31% from April, that's £344 per month at 40% taxpayer rate - in 2013 the 320d SE manual was 18% BIK of £28410 which was around £170pm back then.

I am really not a fan of the front kidney grills on all the new BMW's 😷. They all seem much too large. Has anyone seen the new 7 series grill?

I have an F30 touring and will not be upgrading which is a shame as there is no steering feel even in sport mode in the F30. I use it daily but it does not encourage me to go exploring which is a shame.

Maybe the way forward is backwards with an E90 and no electrical steering.

I really liked the hydraulic steering in the three E9x's that I've had...but the interior on the other hand was appallingly dull and bland though. Even when I had one at 3 months old back in 2006 it felt incredibly dated. I really liked the way they drove though for sure.

As it stands, the petrol models (320i, 330i) are RWD only and the only diesel that is available with xDrive is the 320d.

When the M340i is released it will be with xDrive only.

LHD M340i's around the world will be available with RWD as well as xDrive.

M340d will be xDrive but that's not confirmed for UK yet.

Yes and I hope so, it has to be of some use, however futile.

F30 current owner here. Had a nosey round a 320 a couple of hours prior to the launch evening. The new interior and specifically the dash looks nicer, the idrive display is far more neatly integrated too.

I can't remember if the car I looked at was 320 D or petrol, but I asked the salesman who was trying to sell me the car, how much it was ... I knew the OTR price was going to be shocking because the first thing he said was the new model has a lot of equipment fitted as standard, that came as upgrades on the F30. I cut him off as he ramped up the sales blurb/BS. So how much is it ? I asked bluntly.

£48K he replied .... !!!!!

£48k for 2.0 repmobile. Has the world gone stark raving mad ?? !!
I don't know if you have the internet wink but a 12 second search allowed me to look at the new 3 series price list which showed that a new shape 320d Sport was £35k. Given the usual 20% off, £28k (despite the weak £ and the high level of std spec) seems like an absolute bargain to me. Not sure if you spoke to a st salesman or what but I don't think the price list is shocking at all.
Early showroom car are loaded with useless gadgets so the £48k is misleading.

Interesting. The opposite way round to current models like the M140i, which are available with a choice of RWD or xDrive in LHD markets, but are RWD only for RHD markets.
