Must be just me, but cars are getting bigger and heavier, and I'm being turned off more and more by "sports" cars getting fat. I think they're growing older disgracefully, but with a sly intention to open space lower in the range for new models to take their place. EG 911 displaced by Box and Cay.
I don't really see anything wrong with Porsche having moved the 911 up into the GT market space and inserted the Boxster/Cayman beneath it. They should, IMO, be applauded for keeping the Boxster/Cayman roughly the same size and weight as the 930, even if they have had to sacrifice two seats and two cylinders to do it. The 911 is commendably small and agile for the GT car it has become, IMO. Aesthetically it's still a misproportioned blob, mind.
I did not like the rear end when I first saw it, it looked too bulbous. I thought the same about the 991 though and that to me now looks fine, the 997 rear end, which I did prefer looks a bit wimpy now.
No this one is growing on me, damn you Porsche, that means the the really fat arse on the 993 will probably seem alright 6 months after launch
I used the configurator and there is a lovely green colour on there, worked well with the red stripe.
£110k though. I still live in the days when the turbo was approaching that and the Carerra was at £70 to 80k .
Mind you I looked at an E63S price the other day, holy moly. That must be that inflation thing people keep talking about.

Porsche. Genius. You get the D&D funding to develop the car and integrate all the next gen tech properly from paying 991 customers.
Bit like the basic engineering integrity issues suffered on previous gen 911. 996 to 997 all over again.
Porsche have a capacity to mug off the customers and they still come back for more. Utter genius.

I went to my local OPC's 'launch night' for the 992 last night. I'm sold on it. Not without my reservations but it is a rather lovely thing in the metal. The interior is a huge step up from the 991 and is a lovely place to sit. The rear middle brake light is totally bizarre but overall it seems like a great package. Looking forward to driving one.

Wow. 110k for a carrera.
I saw a comment about being in a bigger car being good if you have an accident; geez. Why dont we all drive around in an Abrams Tank then? Point being, the 911 used to be tiny. Park up an early one next to the latest one, and you'd think these current fat bds actually ATE the early one.

And if you don't understand why a modern 911 is, after 5 major generations and 50 years, significantly bigger & heavier than the 1965 version, then there is no hope.

Are the prices before or after Brexit tariffs have been added?
It's before. this is a £121,000 car and the 4s is £130,000for me at this price it's getting too close to other sports car brands although there isn't anything quite like a 911 for usability.
the turbo s with options in the uk will be around £200,000 i'd imagine, possibly more.

No. The one I've dealt with - main Porsche dealer (not a franchise) in London - were very good.
ino they are properly brilliant when mine was having some work done whilst I waited and the 90 minites had had turned in to 2 hours the young girl on reception offered to make me a sandwich by way of an apology , that never happened when i was a customer of BMW , just dont mention the discount word it makes the sales person go a funny colour WJNB said:
Best interior I've seen for years. Beautiful.
Maybe it's the poor angle of the photo but the steering wheel does look a bit cheap & plastic though.
Yes spoiler looks very odd when raised.
The cars width would get on my nerves though & would be a deal breaker as it would be used on rural roads a lot.
Kept shiny it would be a magnet for the envious.
Could rarely use the performance.
Nice to own but apart from being a pose & penis substitute what is its point?
