Apologies if we had this in the last volume. The wrap does raise suspicions. I usually loathe these matt black paint/wrap efforts, for some reason with this one it isn't offending my eye. Plus that 5.5 V8 must be a monster. Brave pills even with FSH?

CLS 5.5 for under thread budget

Edit:
This one looks a better bet?

The 5.5 provides adequate thrust, really needs a supercharger though smile.
I don't think I'd buy either as the facelifted cars seem to be more reliable and either of these could be in the engine failure range.

But I can't help but think I'd rather pay the extra 1500 quid for this over that £2.5K for that green one and have this instead...? And, certainly more than the W124 Saloon which is already nudging £4K this morning:

Any good?
The wheels don't look right to me.
They are factory, if hideous!

My 211 is on the naughty step - I found it with the right rear scraping the tarmac yesterday, the code reader claimed electrical malady, and it won’t pump itself back up again... Time to see if the warranty on the refurbed airbag that I fitted last year is up to snuff. Such a pain as I’ve got other jobs on it to sort.

Which may (with luck) hold a street value sufficient to offset some of the cost of removal of the wrap?

At the risk of turning this into the Seriously Overpriced thread, this advert has a Make Offer option.

I'm seriously considering offering him as much as £12. Seems like a fair and reasonable offer to me. I've taken into consideration all he's done "on and off" over the year.

Nice car, decent spec. However, the seller is clearly a cretin so it's a no from me.

There are alternatives outside of the usual suspects. My parents have a Mazda Bongo, and it happens to have a fairly decent V6 petrol installed. I'm sure you could get one within thread budget.
I did try and buy a Sherpa identical to this a couple years back but the seller was very weird and it didn't happen. Possibly a blessing smile

You madman. Did you drive it first?? laugh

I have some dreadful memories of late-night travel in the Sherpa's descendant, the LDV Convoy (band transport). Being in it was bad enough, the thought of driving the wretched thing was an ordeal that (fortunately) I never had to suffer.
We had one of these when I was a child. We once drove down to the south of France from the north east with 7 of us in it and towing a boat. Just imagine how slow we were on hills.

I understand classic cars, but classic campers I just do not get.

It must be painful actually using them.

Agreed. Seems like they would make the journey slow and unpleasant and the stay cramped and uncomfortable!

I ran several Sherpas when I was a contractor back in the 80s, and found myself glancing at J4 and Sherpa pick ups and campers in the early 00s as an “interesting classic”. I came to my senses, and got into old Mercs, and made amends by project managing the demolition of the factory they were made in!

My 10,000th post, so I request a bye on budget.

This looks a hoot.

Congrats on 10,000 !!!

And I said to myself: "Of course he can have some leeway on budget by way of celebration..."

Then I clicked on the ad itself and looked at the price! Talk about taking 'king liberties!
