I ran several Sherpas when I was a contractor back in the 80s, and found myself glancing at J4 and Sherpa pick ups and campers in the early 00s as an “interesting classic”. I came to my senses, and got into old Mercs, and made amends by project managing the demolition of the factory they were made in!
I used to drive them a lot when I had summer jobs with Home Express (Littlewoods catalogue deliveries mostly) quite enjoyed the Royal Mail spec sliding drivers door, fun place to spend a summer cruising the mean streets of East Grinstead.

So, I was at a classic car show this afternoon at Newstead Abbey, and saw some barges that I thought you barge enthusiasts may enjoy some pictures of.
If this breaks the rules of the thread, please accept my apologies!
Anyway, a nice 190E:

Picked this up today. 98,800, sat nav, aux, new brakes and Airmaric compressor, serviced and 1 years MOT. £3900

It has paddles behind the steering wheel but they dont work it seems. Bodywork and interior is all good, the odd thing doesn't work like 1 rear heated seat but for the money, I feel I have got a great deal.

Not seen it in this colour before, has AMG bumpers I think as well as bonnet.

Thanks for the pics, and I love how you’ve captured the very essence of this thread in your first picture. Not just a very ‘thread’ car, but the stereotypical threadist too!

Had a 150 mile trip to get it home, so a good opportunity to get a feel for it.

For the miles I do, perhaps less than 3000 a year, it's a great option. Thanks to PH though for making my mind up, and not choosing the BMW 645. The gasket/vale problems scared me right off.
