I understand classic cars, but classic campers I just do not get.

It must be painful actually using them.
This is mine, great fun, tax and MOT free.

Picked this up today. 98,800, sat nav, aux, new brakes and Airmaric compressor, serviced and 1 years MOT. £3900

It has paddles behind the steering wheel but they dont work it seems. Bodywork and interior is all good, the odd thing doesn't work like 1 rear heated seat but for the money, I feel I have got a great deal.

Not seen it in this colour before, has AMG bumpers I think as well as bonnet.

Looks very nice for that money
You forgot to say what's under the bonnet!
No paddles so just the normal auto stick?

A minor inconvenience.

Top drawer.

I am loving the JDM stuff. I know mercs and jags are barge norm but some of these things look epic to me:

Not quite so keen on the Nissan ...but the two Crowns? Fabulous! One would almost say, "Regal" in a non-ostentatious way?

Does Japan still have an Emperor? If it does, I bet he has some of these.

But how long does it take you to get anywhere ? I guess you can take in all the scenery which is the whole point of going on tour.

You do seem to see a lot of them needing some assistance on the routes to the West Country.

I think they look good and used to like seeing all the customised ones gather near Oswestry, where we used to live but I also have horrible memories of them as a kid. Back in 1972 our family friends had a brand new one and we'd go on days out, from South London, to the 'countryside'. That meant Coulsdon in those days.

Good fresh air! Except the VW Camper used to make me so violently car sick (I can still smell and feel under my finger-tips the nauseating new vinyl of the interior to this day) that there was often anything but 'fresh air' inside!

Irrational as it is, I think they're still the main reason why I don't think I would buy any form of VW! Kinda of like if you've ever been violently isick on one form of Tequila etc.

At the risk of turning this into the Seriously Overpriced thread, this advert has a Make Offer option.

I'm seriously considering offering him as much as £12. Seems like a fair and reasonable offer to me. I've taken into consideration all he's done "on and off" over the year.

But... its rapidly rising in price every day!!! You do have to wonder who would actually sell something that was rising so quickly wink I think a better description would be 'it has rapidly risen in price recently, and I suspect its at the top now'. Doesn't sound quite so catchy though.

I did try and buy a Sherpa identical to this a couple years back but the seller was very weird and it didn't happen. Possibly a blessing smile

If was to sleep in that, I’d have horrible dreams that Jaws would try and rip the roof off and get to Barbera Bach before I did.

Oi! I posted that Crown Athlete first! wink

These JDM cars are great as relatively few people know what they are.
They're surprisingly quick stock, with lots of hi tech stuff ( for the time ).
Even sensibly modified, they're absolutely mental! nutssillyevil

BTW, what's the car at the bottom.? Its a new one on me.

I had a Toyota Chaser with the same 1JZ engine and 5spd manual. Absolutely sublime.

Thanks for the pics, and I love how you’ve captured the very essence of this thread in your first picture. Not just a very ‘thread’ car, but the stereotypical threadist too!
Funnily enough it was seeing that 190 that reminded me of the thread laugh

I used to absolutely love slightly odd ball JDM stuff like the cars quoted above, but since they started to rise in price along with other 'modern classics' while more traditional barges still depreciated like stones, the bang for buck aspect went and I kinda lost Interest.

I hoard onto my soarer for the sole reason that I know prices are going to get to a point where I will never justify another.

Or even: "That pile of ste that you have gone further fked-up even more was never been going up in price, was never ever going to remain stable at any price...and now you've gone to a mediocre length and haven't even done that well to ensure that it should have absolutely plummeted in price !".

How about that for a catchy turn of phrase? smile

Should be scrapped. Not even worth my overly-generous earlier offer of £12.

Apologies not entirely barge related but won't get many answers in the Camping forum.

Anybody live in/near Camarthen ?

There's 2 campervans for sale (one in the next village) but it's a 9 hour round trip for me.
That is the true essence of this thread! Reaching-out (sorry) to unknown losers about random st, confident in the knowledge that you're likely to get help from a decent sort. Good luck. I'm getting more interested in campers myself actually.
I'm not all that up on modern parlance.....
Is "getting into campers" code for d0gging or being very interested in glass topped coffee tables?

It's not even a genuine 325I....some cobbled together thing, from 30+ year old 318!

If you don't buy it today, could be £13k tomorrow?

Very nice. I've been pouring over listings for CLS' for about 6 months now with a serious eye on picking one up when insurance is due for renewal (4 weeks and counting).
Key options for me are heated seats, the Harmon Kardon system and the updated 5.5L V8 which puts me right at the top end of thread budget for one with plenty of miles under its belt.

I keep getting budget creep though and ending up looking at W211 E63 AMGs trying to convice myself I can make the man maths work.
