There's a lot of German stuff on here. In the interest of balance https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...
Some history - great
Long MOT - great
5+ owners - we'll assume this to be 5, and not, say, 50....great!

I've heard these cars are also super reliable? biggrin

That really is all kinds of win though isn't it....just look at that interior!

This Alpina has been dropping from £10,000 in two months to current £8000 - so if i wait a few more months...... so many miles though.....

Manual too!
Might be a queue forming if it creeps near to upper thread limit smile

Different wheels in each picture and very few pics, does not look right to me.

How about a cheap 190e?

Rubbish pics, and it's in N.I. but it has a proper .gov MOT at least. Could be a years cheap barging...

I need moral support.

I'm going to Canada for a month and have been looking at getting an old BMW. I already posted a thread about it, alas the deal fell through.

I've found a lovely e34 525i for 1400 dollars. Bar the colour, it's the same type of car I spent my formative years driving around Canada in as a reckless teenager. It's perfect. It even comes with a 30 day warranty.

Anyway, I just need you lot to tell me how lovely this thing is.

My old one:

Nice!

I used to live in Quebec, where there is no MOT, and plenty of salt on the roads 8 months of the year. There was an old bloke near me who drove a Buick, which looked like it was about to split in half. I think the car was being held together by the roof and B Pillar. So I'm guessing the very fact that it still exists means that it's in BC.

Indeed - although parts for it might be a nightmare - if it drops to 7 i'm tempted.....

Plenty CLs within thread, such as this 2002 CL500, 59k miles

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

But then there’s a 2006 500 CLS for a small haggle over thread.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

The CLS makes the CL look just too quirky. Must be an epic cruiser.

I wonder how much they’ll actually go for?...

Anyone here had a CL in 5.5 V8 guise?

I have suddenly realised their design is gorgeous, not ugly.

There's a chap called AndrewCrown with a reader's ride thread on his 216. He's had a few niggles but I think overall it's been fairly good

Some nice low mileage barges above ^. That 215 looks very well cared for.

They seem like great value compared to E500s.

Just read the thread - interesting...

I seem to have picked up differing stories regarding CL500 common issues, perhaps I'm getting mixed up.

Alarm bells ring for me too - the photos are of at least two different cars from different model years. Look at the dash and centre console. The first interior picture is of a later car than the second one, so it isn't just about swapping wheels or the steering wheel between an airbag one and an earlier type.

I was going to say I’d take a look for anyone but it’s the opposite side of the country to me.

Agreed that it’s hard to get much past in an NI MOT inspector at all, at least it actually means something.

Even with those miles £3k for an ugly, thirsty, deeply unfashionable, not very fast, 22 year old Toyota Ghia seems “a bit steep”.
Yes, but it'll still be working when hell freezes over😉

Styled by Giugiaro, or was it Bertone?? They look OK on the bigger Sport spec. wheels.

Not an object of desire, but neither is an LS400 and they get enough love around here.....

It's in my neck of the woods if anyone is interested. Seen this car around in the past though not recently. Looked fairly tidy.

If any fellow barge owners can assist I’m trying to find these two parts for my 190e dash. A blanking plate and the panel that fits around the vent to the right of the steering wheel. Assume easy enough to replace the vent panel..

Mercedes dealer not very helpful. eBay proving unsuccessful.

If you find a source for the blanking panel, please let me know. My dash is otherwise uncracked - just the blanking panel in the corner. It is mildly annoying!
Will do! thumbup
Those blanking panels are still available from the stealers, only a couple of quid each... Madness I know.

Now, back to lurking before I give away and more secrets or cause a riot.
The panel around the vent is still available: I bought one last month. Easy enough to fit, too. Pricey, though, £90. I think it is A2018301054. Easy to replace.

I've been browsing V70R's, and where you're not going to buy this one as it's an auto and a smidge over thread at 5250, how many extra Gerald points does this get for the carpet stripes done this way?! I am so trying it tomorrow...

This must be a thing. I've not browsed used cars for a few years but saw this the other day.

I see your leggy Volvo and raise you....

You can play guess the car if you like.
