A V70 T5 Ocean race by any chance? 2006. I'll be selling my ex-wife's before very long.
Does she know? hehe
Very good! It was my car actually but she wants something newer and smaller. My interest is mainly to ensure that she doesn't part ex it for peanuts. Rather inconveniently for most, it's in Somerset.
Could you keep me in the loop on this? Somerset is no problem!

A tale of woe.

On Friday I was taking my car for its annual service, unfortunately it decided to rain so heavily the majority of lanes were flooded and I had to perform a series of 50 point turns as I smelt roasting clutch and a large bill looming.

Unfortunately during one of those turns I clipped an alloy on an underwater curb / stone / whatever which led to a refurb.

Even more unfortunately the alloys are diamond cut, and they’ve already been recut, which means all 4 now need power coating, and 4 new tyre valves, and a geometry check, so a wheel refurb of £100 has now turned into £1000 odd, plus two new tyres.

Feel for you: had the same thing happen to me after 4 brand new tyres and a wheel refurb only a couple of weeks before. Part of a brick fell out of the back of a builder’s truck and I wasn’t able to avoid it frown

I had an E63 (w211) for 12 months with no problems. I think they're pretty reliable.

That is tempting, Quattro Sport has the awesome recaros seats. He has spent a lot of money recently and is now selling it, which sets off alarm bells. If in good fettle, all day and twice on Sunday.

5.2 litres of over-budget V10 Audi... this one looks as it it's been driven through a multi-storey car park by someone on their second bottle of Scotch, but I imagine it won't be long before these end up dropping into top thread.

A diesel, for which I apologise, but a slightly bargey diesel at least...

Are these as susceptible to DPF issues when driven short distances?

I'd like one of these with the 4.2 petrol as a dog wagon.

Yes, not without their issues I gather, predominately air suspension and computer controlled brakes. I also gather there is a good aftermarket for replacement parts which are significantly more affordable than a visit to the main dealer. I think these are now of an age and price range where non-OEM parts are acceptable.

Another tale of barge woe - the LS is beyond economical repair - rear subframe and most other bars and suspension parts are knackered (snapped a rear trailing arm too g round a roundabout). Looks like I need a new car imminently.
Sorry to hear that. It does give pause to bargeista everywhere- the thought that one's barge can be wiped out, just like that. Some overly-costly repairs crop up and sadly, it's bin time.

May more thoughts of where you want to go next? Hopefully you'll be staying within the barge world.

I am getting an overwhelming amount of information on the web that the fan in my 190e is actually electromagnetic and not viscous. Can anyone here actually confirm what a 2.0 should be?

If it's a mechanical viscous fan it won't have any wires going into it. There will just be the boss of the fan which will look like this:

SBC and airmatic really aren't difficult to sort these days, especially with a good indy. For the price/performance an AMG 211 is a bargain.

I've just enquired about a potential barge, seller is on eBay (but not listed as a Motor Trader) and yet has several cars for sale.

I asked outright if it was a trade sale, and was told "this is our family car, we've had it two years..." so I followed this up by asking if his name was on the V5, only to be told "Yes, but in the trade section... so it won't add another owner".

The listing offers delivery and p/x, identical to the other few cars he has for sale... this is a walk away moment isn't it...?

Not necessarily.

Just make sure you get it for private sale money, not retail sale money.
