The chap I bought my 190 from had a lovely SLK32 AMG from that generation. He did say he considered bodywork a consumable though - he had just completed his second round of major works. My dad had a 320 and I secretly liked it. Like a scaled down SL - civilised and an easy companion. The roof was brilliant.

I should have said CdG and I like SC430s smile

Purple & beige, that’s a country club winner.

Well why not?

It would probably be accepted on here if it wasn't posted by a silly billy.

SLK 230, just collected. 81k mileage.

Got a bit warm in stop start traffic (not red zone warm, but about 90-95 degrees). Will need to investigate as suspect not normal!

Otherwise in good nick for a 20 year old car.
I like these a lot, they have aged very well I think; but the idea that the earliest ones are now, what, 23 years old? really depresses me.

Showing you a picture of the clean oil is a level of detail that really inspires trust in a seller.

Cute little convertible.

Why is it here?
Why have you taken it upon yourself to set yourself up as the policeman of what is or isn’t allowed on this thread? Various long-standing posters have explained to you that it’s a broad church and why that is (hint; it hasn’t lasted over 7,000 pages for nothing) but still you persist in denigrating other peoples posts. What do you get out of that?
One of the delights of this thread is the very fact that it meanders around and goes off on many a wonderful tangent. Would you rather we didn’t?

RELAX!

I'm not sure about that car, could do with a few more pictures to be certain.

It's nothing to do with me whatsoever, I only look on here very occasionally, but it in my opinion touring 442 should mind his own business and leave this thread to the regulars who make this thread what it is.

I'd buy that if it wasn't so far away.

I think this is gorgeous but need big brave pants for it. I think it's been for sale for ages too.

You know what it's all about. Thank god there are some of us standard bearers left!
Hi Touring thanks for the kind words. I'm just reading up after being out all day in the sun. Gorgeous here at the mo. As much as I'm pleased with your comments to me and I welcome you into the bosom of bargedom you look to have ruffled some feathers of our more distinguished members.
You obviously have good taste in cars and lots of advice to give and we should like to hear that. Bear in mind we have varied tasted and opinions on barges some which I disagree with but respect.
I don't know any of the members but Harrykul looks to have a collection of cars to rival Harry's Garage on YouTube which I love.
Others have a wealth of knowledge that I as a junior member tap into for advice. Together as a community we learn and grow in our diversity and you could be a part of that too.

Post up some pics of cars for sale in budget and let's discuss that's how it works.

So today I've gotten a lot older. I went to Castle Ward and signed up for National Trust membership! Hahahaha

Game of Thrones is part filmed there so has good chat to one of the main organisers of it. Lovely place and incredible staff.

Holiday week over work in morning!

I'd not really thought much about them before, but a "£1500" search on Autotrader/Gumtree etc. brought up quite a few of them. Never had a Mercedes before.

My newish M3 was nicked late last year and my long suffering missus was having to share own car with me, so decided I'd get a consumable car for a bit. Maybe find something I'd unexpectedly like.

Well, I saw the ad for the SLK, it seemed straightforward and the MOT history looked good. Spoke to the seller and no Spidey senses kicked in. So booked the train from Leeds, arranged the insurance and off I went this morning.

The car is 20 years old. Looks about half of that. To drive it's obviously from a generation before super stuff suspension on everything, Bluetooth and tft screens. The steering is, well, directional.

But everything works in it. There are the tell tale signs of some surface rust waiting to come through on the arches, but it hasn't come through yet.

But it was less to buy than 2 months PCP on the M3. It's really nice to drive. It's got some character. It makes me feel good, sitting at 70mph on the M6 with the roof down.

No doubt I'll get it serviced and end up spending tons on brakes and fluids and tyres and everything else. But I'll enjoy it loads more than if I bought a 7 year old Mondeo or whatever and waited for it to die.

Looking forward to adventures with it.

Touring, I think that it's on here because the barge-iste has an appreciation for other interesting motor cars. A little side-track here and there adds variety and topicality to proceedings.

I think that 'well made with massive depreciation with generous running costs' is the common theme. Barges are the oil the keeps the engine of this thread running, but erm, I cannot think of a suitable analogy to finish my point so do just do us a favour and foxtrot oscar.

There are a lot of very poor quality photos on this ad. I wonder why it's so cheap? I thought that these were rare and attracted a premium.
