This very thread coloured three bag S55 appears to have been for sale since time immemorial. I like it.

There are a lot of very poor quality photos on this ad. I wonder why it's so cheap? I thought that these were rare and attracted a premium.
Hi guys I looked at that ad this morning and remembered seeing it in the past so as you say Croutons it's been dwelling for ages.

Hi Bo. Sorry I hadn't replied to your earlier reply. Yeah the photos are dreadful. That's the non Kompressor model so I think that's why it's not selling or something more dubious perhaps.

Je ne sais Pas. Or however it's spelt hahahaha.

Greetings from a sunny county Down. I give you a bargetastic S500 388bhp with LPG economy. I think this has been for sale for good while. Not sure if on inspection there are issues but might be because it's big, grey on grey and maybe a bit boring.
I'm a wee bit tempted myself but really shouldn't after the investment I've put into my wagon.

That's the first 500 W221 I've seen within thread range
Hi man. Yeah although at the same time I've seen cheaper for sale but usually because they are borked so that's the best price to condition ratio I've seen. Plus it's 30 miles away so I'm resisting a cheeky offer to allow them to offload it.

As someone noticed it's described as cream leather when it's actually that dull boring grey. I'd be keener if it was actually cream. The Alpaca grey leather in the previous generation was a lovely bright light shade that lifted the cabin ambience. I had it in my SL. That to me does the opposite.

I suppose the feast is AMG specific expense without the supercharged performance. I seem to remember these engines are 350ish hp? Not so exciting, even if the engine is a masterpiece.

SLK 230, just collected. 81k mileage.

Got a bit warm in stop start traffic (not red zone warm, but about 90-95 degrees). Will need to investigate as suspect not normal!

Otherwise in good nick for a 20 year old car.
I like these a lot, they have aged very well I think; but the idea that the earliest ones are now, what, 23 years old? really depresses me.
I'd not really thought much about them before, but a "£1500" search on Autotrader/Gumtree etc. brought up quite a few of them. Never had a Mercedes before.

My newish M3 was nicked late last year and my long suffering missus was having to share own car with me, so decided I'd get a consumable car for a bit. Maybe find something I'd unexpectedly like.

Well, I saw the ad for the SLK, it seemed straightforward and the MOT history looked good. Spoke to the seller and no Spidey senses kicked in. So booked the train from Leeds, arranged the insurance and off I went this morning.

The car is 20 years old. Looks about half of that. To drive it's obviously from a generation before super stuff suspension on everything, Bluetooth and tft screens. The steering is, well, directional.

But everything works in it. There are the tell tale signs of some surface rust waiting to come through on the arches, but it hasn't come through yet.

But it was less to buy than 2 months PCP on the M3. It's really nice to drive. It's got some character. It makes me feel good, sitting at 70mph on the M6 with the roof down.

No doubt I'll get it serviced and end up spending tons on brakes and fluids and tyres and everything else. But I'll enjoy it loads more than if I bought a 7 year old Mondeo or whatever and waited for it to die.

Looking forward to adventures with it.
Congratulations on your new barge. I always liked those and the roof inspired the version on my SLs.

You'll enjoy it even more when you realise the savings on PCP. That's what I'm doing too.

I'm a +1 for the SC430. My wife hates it.
Errr. . . OK, I’ll admit it. I’m a + 1/2. So that’s 2 1/2 of us.

They are hugely dependant on colour, and angle of photo.
I'd have one, but then I'd have anything slightly out of the ordinary.

This looks like a decent Lexus. Should be good for a few years of hassle free motoring...

This list of advisories is especially eyebrow-raising, as P38’s were galvanised.
As far as I remember the bodywork is mostly aluminium like the RR Classic and Landy/Defender, and the chassis is steel, but not galvanised from the factory.
I don’t believe this to be true.

I’ll accept the chassis might be ungalvanised steel but I’m relatively sure the bodies are galvanised steel.
Turns out we are both right; Front wings, doors and tailgate outer-body panels are aluminum alloy. The rest of the body is double-sided galvanized steel.

At least our little Touring 442-inspired deviation has helped flush out some of the other thread pervs, finally confessing their love for the Golf Club Special. Embrace it chaps, you know you want to!

The risk is that I might actually have to buy one to put my money where my mouth is, and I really want a very non-barge-like Lotus Evora; maybe I should replace the LS430 with an SC and get an Evora too, but that really would be perverse even by thread standards.

That does look good. Does 5+ owners seems a little high for a car like this? The rear console has more buttons than mine so I am mildly envious.

This interior in a much darker car would be fantastic, but I'm not sure it works that well here:

Still, at 3 grand that looks a terrific barge buy - good spot.

A multi post car:

It has a cartoon character face and is reminiscent of these 70’s ambulance conversions.

Worth a post in:

Because Estate Car for its rarity,

a stealth car nomination thread, and in

cars you never knew existed.

I would (but would need to re-spray it another colour).
