My X300 had pretty much every warning light on when I traded it in for the Phaeton. I was offered £500 trade in price, and I asked him if he was sure... biggrin

That is the most ridiculous advert I have ever read.
Probably needs the money to pay for the detailing bill that it's going to cost to take all the swirls and correct that M1's paintwork.

And to my eye that first-aid kit looks like any standard BMW first-aid kit of around that era which are plentifully available on Ebay if you want one just for show. I shouldn't think one would actually want to have to use a 40 year old first-aid kit in an emergency?

With the saving of £2996.67 thus made, I'm sure you could find somebody, somewhere to knock you up a toolkit that would be a perfect match and still have enough left over to buy a whole and pretty decent Barge! smile

Bargains galore, probably, i will be bidding tomorrow - with the cars being in Norfolk (from N.Wales) a worthy trip.
This has been painfully overlooked by the hoard. Some beauties in there.

X350 cassette player: check
Have quite enjoyed catching up with the Mrs’ 90’s Indie collection, with Ned’s Atomic Dustbin, Ride, Shed Seven to name a few...

Made me think about modernising somehow - could I fit a BT adaptor to the rear entertainment aux input?

I am enormously glad I'm nowhere near Kings Lynn tomorrow and Saturday because my wallet would otherwise take a proper spanking. I'd happily provide a home for the entire lot (except the Chrysler Crossfires, the Marina, the VW Golfs and the 96 Mondeo estate). They have some great stuff.

ETA. fk the budget.

Brilliant, the only trouble with X350s as barges is that they hardly ever go wrong.

Forget the music, replace the front siamese silencer with an x-pipe, and the rear boxes with straight pipe, and listen to the exhaust note.cool
In other words, precisely against the grain and purpose of having a Jag saloon? Hmm. I'm not sold on the idea I'm afraid.
This has not been my experience of X350 ownership in the last 9 months. It's been quite needy, but not excessively so for a 15 year old barge.
The balance has been restored hehe
I think i’ve spent 3-4K in 8 months on my X356R - valley hoses, knock sensors, radiator hoses, lower control arms, gearbox flush, wheels, tyres, discs/pads etc - all mainly ‘deferred maintenance’, lots of stamps in the service book, but no receipts, so not unexpected. More to come with potential VVT replacement, and RCA of suspension in firm mode.

I genuinely love it though, it ticks a number of boxes for me.

Yes, that's exactly what I did and it worked really well.

I am likewise pleased to have a family event on Saturday;

I really want:

44 1958 Austin A35, 79 1965 Bedford CA Dormobile, 188 1985 BMW E23 B10 Alpina 7 Series, 35 1940 Buick Super 8 Saloon, 222 1972 Fiat 130 Coupe, and 217 1937 Rover P2 - 12

That would take up 6 of my 2 available parking spaces, and several thousand pounds, which I don't yet have. cry

I’ve a soft spot for the 84’ One Ten CSW. It be a shame to take a grinder to the galv chassis to fit the V8 Auto such a lump so desperately deserved, but needs must.

I used this one but any aux to bluetooth adaptor should work.

You can even use the rear cigarette lighter socket and keep it permanently plugged in at the back of the car so you don't have to remember to charge it. Although I'd generally get a good couple of weeks use out of it on one charge, depending on how often I drove the car of course.

Chaps, a slightly random request. I need a phone holder that clips securely into the Lexus vents so that I can use maps. I seem to recall from the mists of time that someone recommended one to (I think) Speckled Jim; does anyone know, or can you recommend something else please?

You left one in the SEC which I have shamelessly kept! Wife and daughter no1 were so impressed that two more were purchased https://www.amazon.co.uk/Belkin-Rotating-Universal...

(Although it looks to have changed as I’m sure they didn’t extend on both sides).

Thanks Stegel. I too 'inherited' the SEC one but never used it. I thought the one recommended had some sort of magnetic fastening. I may have a look at the one you linked if there are no other recommendations.

I’ve no idea what an M1 is worth, but having seen the ludicrous prices paid for 50s and 60s Ferrari tool rolls by “completers” isn’t he potentially devaluing the car! (Dragging it back to barges, my rather tatty A124 lost its wind deflector before I got it. I purchased one from eBay and collected it from the vendor - he was flogging it “as he never used it” on his 1 previous owner 35k mile car; to my mind the gap in the boot will cost him far more than the £125 I paid).

I use one very similar to that and it works really well. I prefer it on the passenger side though because it does block the air-con air flow!

Its very difficult to fit a flight to Glasgow and a drive home to London in the same day, especially every time you suggest it to your better half (who is insistent you do not need a car) you get told of some plan that I have forgotten (her parents visiting, her sister visiting, some show we are going to see ... etc.).
You must try harder: the NI branch of the thread fly from Norn Iron and get back the same day. Well at least I do. Last time I left Chiswick at 17.30, reached Cairnryan at 3am and was home for 6.30am!
Well, I try, but the cars often have other ideas!

Last one was Bedfordshire & back via Cairnryan in March. Car was fine (very much NOT a barge this time) but made the huge mistake of taking the A1 & M1. Never again!

Anyone feeling lucky?

They list it as a 3.2 but of course us Jaguar afficionados know there was no such thing and it's actually a 4.2. With one month of MOT left...
