Why do sellers come out with crap like this though: "The Volvo 850 was pretty much the last of the fully Swedish built Volvo's before they were bought up by the Ford Motor Company". It really wasn't, the impact of that didn't begin to filter through until nearly a decade later.
Given that the 850 and later V70 were built in Belgium, one has to give this seller a lot of latitude.

One (more) detail to catch the unwary at this age is the deteriorated reflectors, I've had mine apart and been busy with the foil tape...bodge central but we'll see at the MoT next month.

She rewarded me by losing the pas juice leading to a new rack (another item no longer available through Volvo UK).

Bangernomics bites back.

I know, I know, it's above thread max but you don't often see the larger engined brother of the GS430 for sale.

http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/2019...

Not sure the price is right for this but looks to have a good history, one fail for TPMS but no MOT for a year so where has it been...
Anyway the point of my post is does the 4.6 give you much more than the the usually in thread budget GS430?

I didn't even know they did a 460 GS.

As for whether it gives much more than the 4.3, aside from bragging rights I suspect not. They aren't really sporty cars, and the easy cruising is what they excel at, whereas hustling one with vigour is probably rather like watching your elderly aunt pogo in the mosh pit - she can do it, but probably ought not. So, obviously, the answer is yes.

279bhp to 342bhp, so quite a chunky rise if Autotrader's figures are to believed! Agreed though, hustling is not the Lexus way.

I really like it!

I too was unaware of the GS460. One to look out for when they're 2/3k I reckon.

Oof indeed. Short MOT and that shocking steering wheel, but sounds like a seller that might be desperate to offload so a deal to be done. Very tasty.

Agreed. They’re more XJ220 than the wheels on an XJ220.

Getting very close to top thread... Exactly how luxurious is the ride with these?

Came to post this exactly this. I also loved the speedlines on my XJRS, but the XJR6 wheels take the biscuit. Maybe fashion will go back to this once we're done with spindly wolfrace style wheels on everything?

Nice Saab smile

Here’s a sensible pair of trousers, a reasonable
Mile (68k) Legend despite the silly tax. £3590.

https://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/advert/201...

Tedious though innit. There’s an 08 plate on AT with 57k at a ludicrous 9.5k. Where on earth would a price like that come from?!

This XK8 still shows as for sale. £3k. Top value.

And chocolate gearbox on the XC90 2.9 yes? Although at £2050 with an LPG conversion, if in one piece...

I seem to be the exception here but I swear the X100 XK8 looks worse every time I see one and is not dating well at all. That looks like a sausage on wheels to me in the first pic, I think the only good angle is dead on from the front where you can't see all the flaccid surfacing and piss poor detailing.

I couldn't disagree more. To me it's a svelte and elegant thing. LPG puts me off this particular one, which otherwise looks lovely.

A rare bird. Only around a dozen or so were ever registered over here. Interesting concept with the 4.6 donkey and eight speed auto normally found in the LS460, but only a dementia sufferer with a bigger than average pension pot would have chosen one over the cheaper, far more economical and only a mite slower ‘450h at the time.

Certainly a tempting prospect now it’s approaching our bottom feeder budget, but surely the LS would be the one to have?

Luxuriously luxurious. Have you seen the rear armrest on these (that ad has missed the money shot in my opinion)? There are about 20 buttons to control everything in the World and even the side blinds are electric. I assume LS430 owners must have reported back to Lexus that it was too exhausting to have to pull a side blind across manually.

I have my eyes on a facelift LS430 next. For some reason the 460 seems like brave pills too far, plus the £570 tax is offputting. I imagine these are very hard to shift (outside of threadists on here!) because of that. I would be interested at £4K but not thread busting £6k. MOT history on this one is very encouraging despite no mention of service history in the (poorly written and photographed) ad.

Are there any threadists with a 460?

Fner. You want the LS600's rear seat pack really.

Everyone should have their own rearmost ottoman.
