I had to wait until a new page was reached in order to post. The stigma of sharing words on the very page in which Speckled Jim failed to commit hara kiri was too much to bear.

Not sure you can contract out of the sale of goods act as this dirty seller would like, but they drop the price of this 4.7 Cherokee from 2.5 to 2k with regularity.

High Output engine too, but those wheels are horrific! eek
I've always liked WJs and if my ML was having problems I would want something like that, but those wheels are some of the worst I've ever seen!

2003, 4.7 litre V8, 255bhp and "high output engine"..... That may have been high output 15-20 years prior....? Those wheels..... My poor eyes!

Seats look comfortable though.

It was relative - higher output than the standard 4.7

That engine is a strange one if you think of it in car terms - it's basically a commercial vehicle engine. Never used in cars, only SUVs and pick ups and vans. It's just designed to be a minimal maintenance engine to do enormous mileages and I think is quite good in that role

Released in 2002. biggrin
330lb ft of torque. Will trundle on for 100,000s of miles too.

Exactly that. Output referred to is torque figure rather than bhp too, although obviously as you increase torque, generally power goes up as a function of it (if no other characteristics change, like a drop in max rpm to facilitate use of longer gears for better efficiency, more relaxed cruising, lower lifetime revolutions and therefore greater durability..).

A 250bhp/250lb ft engine is one thing, a 250bhp/350lb ft quite another. You might prefer one in a sports saloon with short gearing and another in a utility vehicle.

This is why Euro V8s seem at one level to be superior to typical US V8s in terms of specific power outputs, but there's more to consider, as well as different attributes being considered desirable in different markets. They find higher-revving, relatively lower torque units with high maintenance requirements pointlessly frustrating.

Just find a Euro 350bhp/350lbft engine and never rev it above about 4500-5000rpm....same thing winkhehe

ETA the way the seat structure is showing through the drivers seat leather is very disappointing indeed.

Never seen that before on one of these. 30 stone PO?
Well you've embarrassed yourself there, as it's an indent of the bolster from the factory. Not the seat structure coming through.
I know, it’s awful.

And I can’t think of a new username so it’s going to follow me.
I feel partly responsible for this.

Peugeot 607 3.0 V6, £1695. Claims FSH and 89k. Creamier than Boddingtons. Tax being £555 is the really bitter taste though.

Those 607s are dirt cheap, as with the Laguna mentioned budget for a cam belt and water pump straight away

I like these, a lot, but the S80 V8 never seems to be advertised at the sort of price where far better alternatives aren't available. For example £6500 is X350 Jaguar XJR territory, a wildly superior car in every way. Even a 4.2 XJ8 is a much better car than the posh Mondeo V8.

Presumably they sell at that price though, you never see them sinking to £2500.

I think it's a Volvo enthusiast thing, as their ultimate Volvo, but outside that group the pool of potential buyers is vanishingly small.

I was thinking the same thing. £6500 on a Volvo S80 or..... You could get a nice XJ, 7 series, S Class, A8 or, at a push an LS460 at that.

Just so few of them out there meaning that the enthusiasts will keep prices from falling too low.I always wanted a ZT260 when they got cheap, but they never did.

Your post reminded me that I wanted to see what X351s were down to price wise, but nothing quite thread yet. This had me drooling before I spotted it

I do have a soft spot for the saloons and that's a great colour. The ECU will have the proper mileage recorded too so that shouldn't be a concern.

Needs a little haggle, big miles, and is powered by the jism of Beelzebub, bit it looks like a nice place to be.
